It'll sound daft but I actually have breakdown cover with a company in Germany! They do european cover (including UK) which gives me better cover at hone and abroad for less than most UK companies wanted to charge me just for the UK all because I drive an "old car".
My old truck can be driven home without a clutch and is better maintained than most newer cars if my friends vehicle mishaps are anything to go by!
I've been trying to work out via many internet searches whether the balls on the roots of my elephant garlic are viable bulbs that given a few years will be big enough to add to meal.
Given up and plonked them in some compost! Seems one way to get an answer.
Clari - our cover does the whole of Europe too so pretty amazed to find that only the male half of a couple of UK friends who visited recently can drive over here.
Hooray for Dynorod.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

The book case has been sorted ... I have reduced the number of cookery books to 80! Some are in a heap to go to the local hospice book sale, some are in a heap along with some gardening mags for Wonky, and some very old ones which were falling apart have gone in the recycling bin.
If anyone's at all interested in the situation in Venezuela, this is a post from a long-time Forum Friend on Wildfood ....... he's a Brit married to a Venezuelan and has lived t and run a food business there for quite a long time now .....
Dovefromabove , looked at that website you put up about Venezuela , even worse than the news we see on the BBC !
Yes my company allways said it was cheaper to retain excicting customers than to obtain new ones , perhaps the Internet has changed all that , been retired to long now to known the current situation
Have managed to get AA to reduce cost for 2 years running , totally unnecessary , why not give you best price to start with , have to say have had fantastic service from AA in the past which is why reluctant to change
Dynorod , again used them lots for blocked drains and great service
Just having a beer before dinner , hope alls well with everybody
Well done Dove. Love a good cookery book. Which are your absolute must-keeps?
I hope you had a good weekend away, Pat, notwithstanding your desire for home comforts. It was a long time to wait if it was disappointing!
Yvie I hope you're feeling a bit better.
Amazing result from the poles, Chicky. Glad you enjoyed the walk.
Came across a fantastic herby plant stall in Kings Cross yesterday (had gone to a live poetry / painting gig - I seem to find garden-related stuff when I least expect it) - but I only had a fiver on me! Every variety of every herb you could think of, all in amazing condition and the prices were were definitely not typical of central London. Ended up with a ricinus (yes, I know it's an annual here but couldn't resist), a gorgeous red monarda and some dill.
Are your tenants finally gone now, Hosta?

LG, yes and no. They've not been sleeping there since Friday night, but they've been back and forward collecting stuff. Her dad has " made good" all the knocks in the wall on the stairs, but it's not painted yet. ( Hubby isn't at all keen on someone else painting, hey ho. He can always go over it )Tomorrow is their last day , according to notice, so I'm guessing they're waiting until I head to the coal face at 12 to come back.
They've not made eye contact ,nor spoken a word to me about the whole moving out thing.

Dyno rod, took about 10 seconds to clear blockage. Hurrah.
That's got things moving then
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Been doing a major clean and also watching the memorial service at Tynecot. Incredibly moving place without today's service. Went there for Remembrance Day in 2014 - http://s211.photobucket.com/user/Obelixx_be/library/1411%20Ypres%20and%20Tyne%20Cot?sort=9&page=1
