Typical of our locals! Hubby went down and opened the Hall for the meeting, waited for an hour or so, then came home. No one turned up.image

Hurrumph!  I ordered a pair of sandals in early May ... not available (although the catalogue had only arrived that morning) but would be available in another colour in early July .. ok I said, send me those.  In early July I phoned to find out when they would arrive ... chap told me they were with Quality Control and would be with me within the week.  Nothing.  I phoned again this morning.  Woman said she'd never heard of shoes being 'with Quality Control' image   She checked ... the computer still said they would arrive on 3rd July ... she checked again ... apparently they've not been made yet, and when they are made they're only making two .......... What!  says I, Two sandals or two pairs?  Two pairs, apparently.  Well, that's something, but is one of those pairs mine and when are they being made?  She talks to her manager ... they'll find out and get back to me either today or tomorrow ........... of course, as it's now July they have no other summer sandals left in my size that I like .... I wanted them for our holiday at the end of August ... I  might as well cancel my order and wear my old ones on holiday then image

Just as well I had that trendy Cyber-goth boot to wear through all the warm summer weather isn't it?  image

    Morning all.

Just read back several pages, lots of chat I would have liked to have joined in with! Male/female chat is always interesting. And chores etc. Hope Clari's ear is improving.

The christening weekend went well, often chaotic! There were 25 adults and about 15 children. I did loads of washing up, salad preparing and baby minding. Son and DIL had put a long table (3 long tables borrowed from the village hall) in the garden and a large garden table for the children. There are 2 very old trees with spreading branches which gave perfect shade. Caterers did the main meal after the Christenings on Saturday. The weather was lovely, warm and sunny, but a cool little breeze.

Our B & B was lovely, lots of nice little touches like home made jam in china pots, tea tray (unusual in France) in the beautifully furnished, comfortable bedroom. Only just over £60 a night. Only problem was that the church bell rang every hour through the night! I had to shut the window.

We took the ferry from Dunkirk yesterday and are now in our little cottage in SW Norfolk. But off tomorrow for a couple of days to visit my SIL and BIL (from 1st OH) in West Yorkshire. Then back here on Friday.

Have to rely on OH's iPad when we are away, not much signal over the weekend and I find it small after the laptop.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
