Great Joyce. Time for you to relax a little more..humid here . Looks like we are all going to have thunderstorms later today. Just got back from seeing practice nurse. Oh has got a nasty case of varicose eczema. .Recently had both legs operated on for leaky veins .

Having friend to lunch today before she goes of to help run a play group . She's only 83. No signs of retirement there. Long may it last.

hoping to do some planting today.

Hoping to get to garden centre today DB . Look for those thymes that you mentioned. Hope that you are ok . Also all those who are under the weather take care.

Hello everyone.  Not quite as hot today.  We have all the shutters down and windows open to let breezes in and it's a comfy 28C indoors.  Nearly 40C outside so a quiet afternoon in store and more painting at about 5pm.

We walked the dogs at 9:30 last night which was lovely but lots of hares about so Bonzo ran for miles chasing one and then another.   He never gets close but tries anyway.   So hot and exhausted last night that for the first time ever he didn't finish his dinner.

No sign of an end to the heatwave here nor any rain or storms.

Good to have OH home Joyce and even better that you're having some "me time".

DD - do try and stop occasionally, just to draw breath and reflect before ploughing on.

Busy - you've gone quiet.  Have the pain meds worked?  Are things improving?

Enjoy the day, whatever you're up to everyone.

I don't usually do much in the way of bedding plants but took myself off to the GC and got two trays of violas  (40 plants) and six coleus, all for pots.  Also got two blue salvias and more blue sisyrinciums.

LP, not good that your other eye is affected.image Hope it's better before you go to London.

Dove, I must ask daughter if she has Hosta Fireworks and scrounge a division later.

Oops - forgot to offer best wishes to LP.  Hope it gets cleared up soon.

I don't do bedding either but found a free pack of alyssums when I was cataloguing seeds and decided to sow them.  I now have a mini forest in plugs but can't plant them out just now with it registering 43C outside and no rain in sight.   Love sisyrinchums but thy'd not grow in teh Belgian garden.  Something to try here.

Hi all, popped in for a cuppa.

It's divine out there . We've moved about 3 cubic metres of woodchip down to " the allotment" to use on the paths between new beds. Time for a bit of sunbathing then I'm heading into the lake later for more clearance.

Dove , I'm glad things are looking lovely, esp Hosta Fireworks. I've got one now , but he's only little.

Joyce , DD and others, remember the "me time" it's very useful.

Joyce ... glad your OH is home ... hope he's not too discombobulated by all that's been going on and that you get time to rest.

I bought H. Fireworks last year from Woottens ......when I told Hosta he bought one for himself ... it's gorgeous image

Joyce; glad your OH is home, and that you can get your me time.

It's much cooler here today, close and my head is cracking like a storm is due. We had a bit of rain; just enough to dampen the dust but not enough that it would have sunk in.

I harvested my strawberries this afternoon... they never made it in to the kitchen!

OH has text me to say he has some "exciting news". For him this could mean so much! From there's been a fire drill at work, to he's pregnant, to the office collapsed, to he's found a new shirt he likes.

    See original post

I have thought it would be nice to start a family Dove, and it would be so much more convenient if he did the whole birthing bit as I'm rather busy right now (I have over 468 years of long service awards to give out sat on my desk right now).
