Hello all. I've done my usual 'read - not find time to post - read - not find time to post - realise it's been ages and I don't know where to start - leave it a bit longer - rinse and repeat'. Popped in for a few moments the other day.

Hope all are well. Sounds like you're on the mend, Dove. Hope OH is too, Joyce. And glad the tea went well, BL (that rhymed!).

Was feeling very despondent last week, though much better since the election results. Not that it was the ultimate result I wanted (though well done, punkdoc), but it certainly feels like things have changed and I feel a bit more hopeful now. Yvie said it all I think (hope I've remembered the right person).

Weeded the 'pond' today - also known as 'the big weed-filled hole that will one day be the pond when we get our act together and work out what to do'. Well it's a step in the right direction.

Off out to do a bit of watering. Have a good evening, all.

Good to see everyone .... hope you've all had a good day and that Joyce's OH will soon be more chipper.

It's a lovely calm and sunny evening here in Norfolk ... hope everyone else has a lovely evening too.

The pond in all its green glory.

Where I'm stood is patio and there is a small gap between the patio and the pond. Just behind it is the pear tree.

Around the other three sides I will be building the edge up so the pond will be level with it's surroundings.

I'm thinking of pebbles in one corner leading into the pond to help animals (we have many many frogs) gain access despite the fluctuating water levels and create a shallow area.

The trouble is if I do choose to have plants...  what plants to have?

    Oh the brain ache!

Evening all - been a bit absent from this thread too. Bit like LG - if I read everything - I don't have time to post!

Glad OH is doing ok Joyce.  What a palaver. Hope he continues to improve image

It settled down here too Dove - after a wet start. I did a little bit outdoors after work, including chatting to a little old chap with his dug, who was bemoaning the hosta damage by slugs and snails in his garden, before saying how much he admired my garden. Very nice of him, and gave me a boost  image

How about some grasses Clari? Evergreen ones which will hide the edges and won't mind a bit of water about their toes? Libertias are nice too - I'm a fairly recent convert to those.  Ferns and Heucheras for any shady bits?

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Hi folks,  been on Nanna duty the last couple of days looking after a teething Jonah, bless him.  Managed to get some deadheading and watering done when I got back.  Have a few plants to get in the garden tomorrow and a few pots to move, nothing else planned.

Good on yer Wonky for sorting out Dove' garden, it sounds like you've really cheered her up. Don't think my two would be up for it.

Managed to get the laptop back just in time to say goodnight.

OH sounds like she has croup, so I am moving elsewhere tonight.

Nothing sort of a day, didn't feel like gardening, so I had one of my hating the way the garden looks days.

    Hopefully better tomorrow.

Lily P., daughter  2 has my Lena, who seems to have settled down well. I have daughter 2's untrained mare who is the daughter of my first mare who is retired. They are in the summer paddock here, eating grass, going in the shelter when it's hot and cantering about when they need some exercise.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
