Given all the leaf cover in trees at the mo I have a hard time watching the birds and have to stop and concentrate on where they're singing, calling or shouting from and identifying one wee brown job from another is harder still as they won't stay still.  Yesterday we had hoopoes, green woodpeckers and spotted woodpeckers and magpies all nattering plus robins, blackbirds, and unidentified songsters.

OH cleverly decided to put a deep mulch of long hay like grass strimmings on his grapevine and kiwi so i've had to go and give them deep drinks and that led to pottering with pots.   Now i'm off to paint before I have to fetch Rasta.

    Morning all, again.

Hubby has managed 11 hours sleep on 2 consecutive nights. ggrr. That's my cumulative total for the same nights.

Dry and cloudy, but wind free this morning.

    See original post

Have you though about separate beds, just for a couple of nights a week. You could be disturbing each other without even knowing it.

Opticians went well, no need to go back before hospital next week

having a very amusing time watching the birds and their chicks. What a size they are!

Very humid here. not pleasant with heavy grey skies

    Good news LP.

It's gone grey here and feels cool till you start moving and then it's back to strappy tops.   OH has gone to strim some more paths thru the wild grass and I am pottering between painting, plants and cleaning and laundry.    Much cooler in the house.

Chappy is coming to deliver 10 cubic metres of chipped bark tomorrow.  Now to decide where to put it as we need it in two different ends of the garden...........

Afternoon all; early finish to use up some of my toil and the hound and I are home alone til late so I can enjoy a nice stretch and relax on the bed rather than trying to work out what's for dinner.

I should be in the garden but it's really bugging me that I can't decide the fate of the edging around the pond.

    That's good news, Lily P.

I've been gardening most of the day, the bindweed is horrible. Planted several dahlias and other plants in gaps, such as salvia farinacea. Wore a dress as it was hot and muggy, now thunder is rumbling in the distance and it's tipping with rain. Hurray! Off to have a shower, you should see the state of my bare knees!

LP, good news re your eye.  loved your pics on Garden Thread.

Clari,  once you have decided in how/where you will have access to your pond it will be easier to decide on edging.

At hosp for three hours so no chance to get into garden.  OH was on second unit of blood and had a bit more colour in his face. He will have another unit this evening.

Busy, very muggy here too and hosp far too warm.  Felt like throwing open all the windows. . . no wonder bugs breed there.

It's stayed fairly cool all day today cos of cloud cover which eventually developed into very light thunder and about 3 drops of rain.   Managed to get quite a lot of bitty stuff done so that's OK.

Off to dance class this evening with another group cos we can't go on Thursday.

I garden in old shorts and old strappy tops when it's hot Busy.   No dresses scruffy enough for gardening.  Chucked them all out before we moved.  Bindweed here is different from in Belgium - smaller leaves and flowers and no great vertical ambitions.  It's riddled through all our grass along with apple mint in many places - lovely pong when mowing.

Joyce - hope OH is good after his next unit.  Clari - are you looking at stones, slabs, grass.....?
