Commiserations to those with frosted plants... haven't had the courage to look at my blueberries yet, which were flowering nicely when the frost arrived.
My indoor-outdoor thermometer has packed up in the last week, but the Met Office says it only got down to 1.6 - and now it's raining. (Shh, don't tell OH but he's getting a new weather station for his birthday in a fortnight. Hope I'll be allowed to look at it too... )
I haven't tried Ruscus, Pat. An interesting plant... might do for ground cover in the shadiest bit of my shady garden, I think. For a long-neglected plant, yours looks remarkably healthy!
Totally agree re tax-cheating football clubs, Hosta. And big business, politicians and newspaper barons.
Better go shopping, I think. Yawn... not my favourite activity...
Wholegrain mustard, please!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Morning all, We had a frost last night. Haven't got anything precious out yet so hoping things are OK in the garden. Haven't ventured out yet, (still in spotty dressing gown on the sofa with a cuppa). Have managed to put the post in italics but it doesn't seem to want to change back. Hope everyone's plants are OK. Haven't anything planned for today, know what I should do, but that involves cleaning products and staying indoors and I can't see it happening myself. Now that the pond is pretty much finished a new project is creeping into my mind. I'm thinking of building a couple of raised beds to grow veggies/fruit. Never done that before. Will have to do a bit of research as the only place I could put them is a bit shady and is on a cobbled area of the garden. Not definite yet but maybe.
All this talk of various sauces has reminded me that I bought a small container recently of Aioli sauce. We were eating battered fish and I suggested we try the new sauce with it. It was very tasty. However, for the rest of the evening we could NOT get the taste of garlic out of our mouths . I think the squeeze bottle might reside in the frodge for a long time, somehow.
Keep it for the evenings your unwanted visitor pops in. Might make her leave earlier. If you eat more garlic generally it'll be good for your tickers too.
Chili jam with sausages for me and mayo with chips. Has to be a bacon butty tho, not sausage.
Minstrel kitten is staying close to Mum after her adventures yesterday. She's still been out on patrol but comes in every 10 mins or so, has a quick cuddle and purr and heads off. Currently fast asleep on the back of the sofa behind my bed.
Can't understand why it's taken so long to check taxes and football. There have been so many tales of corruption and dodging in the papers over the last few decades.
No frost here and, despite very promising looking heavy clouds yesterday evening, no rain. Clear skies and nightingale song when I let the dogs out for their bedtime pee. OH is golfing and I have been cleaning windows in the annex so it's all shipshape for the tiler tomorrow. Off to mark out my new rose beds now. Couldn't get a stake in the ground yesterday so had to put the sprinkler on.

Hello ... I'm back from garage with the car which has had it's starter motor replaced .... fingers crossed that's what was causing the problem .
The cafe was very welcoming - would you believe the lady there used to live in the next village to me in Bedfordshire. I had two big mugs of coffee and a very good bacon sarnie £4.40. The car was a bit more expensive ... a secondhand reconditioned starter motor and two hours labour plus VAT £120. That could have been a lot worse.
Now I'd better do some bits and pieces here .........

That's strange didnt post in italics after all and all the paragraph spaces disappeared.
No time to post much now, but must comment on the most pressing issue of the day: mayonnaise, of course (in a sausage sandwich)!
Frost this morning - wasn't really expecting that. Sunny now.
Have a good day all.
Definitely Brown sauce on a sausage sandwich
Tomato ketchup - preferably homemade
Morning
Sausage
