You are right, Fairygirl, it's like the Scandi dramas - and there are lots of jumpers and fur-lined anoraks going on too!

I love the photo of Merri with the cake. She looks very happy. I assume by now it's been consumed.

ive been wrestling with the Ruscus plants that I rescued. The roots are amazing. Anyway they are now separated into fist sized clumps and put into new potting mix and ready to go into a place where they will be looked after. They won't know what hit them after 10 years of neglect. image

Last year I started knitting a jumper for my son, but put it to one side when the weather got hot. I've now brought it out again and am finding it a bit of a challenge to remember what's what. The main trouble was that when Hubby and son bought the yarn, they got at least three dye lots in the bundle. It's not their fault - they wouldn't have known about those little details. Anyway, when I started it, I decided to use the front in one lot, the back in a second, and then perhaps the sleeves in a third lot so that it wouldn't be noticeable. Luckily, I tied labels to show which was which. The last problem is that my son told me on the phone yesterday that he has gained quite a lot of weight over summer, so it might now be too small for him. As he is coming down for a visit on Friday, there will be some measuring done. image Darn it. I've also decided that if it is too small, I'll adjust the sleeve length etc to suit me, and I'll have it.

It is here too Dove. My ears are very cold. The wood heater has been lit for the first time this year.

Looks like Merri had a happy birthday image  Hope they enjoyed the cake baking.

Didn't escape the frost this morning - the world is white image.  Fingers crossed for the wisteria buds, the apple, pear and plum blossom, and all the other lush new growth that all the recent warm weather has coaxed out.  I hate late frosts.......this one isn't even particularly late, but damaging when it follows such a mild spell image  Feeling very grumpyimage

But on the plus side, only one more sleep til our little jaunt to Holland.  Mr C found a way of getting our bikes in the car yesterday, so we are hoping to fit in some cycling through the tulip fields ??????

    That sounds fun Chicky image

Im taking my car to be fixed today ... If it starts! The garage is a few miles away and not on a bus route so I'm taking some reading matter and stuff to keep me entertained for two or three hours ... There's a little cafe on the site so I'll take up residence there ...
