Hi Topbird I saw some Guacamole in full leaf at the weekend ... I was sorely tempted and am now regretting my strong will ....... it is quite similar to H. Stained Glass which I bought from Burncoose a couple of years ago ... a lovely hosta.
It's turned really chilly here now .... brrrrrrrrrr!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Those pigeons are out there again....I swear they're plotting something now.....
BL - it was the good head of hair....and the big strong arms. Can't win 'em all
Think they (Spanish b'bells) were introduced here plantmaiden - by some well meaning person - just like grey squirrels. I might have got that wrong. R***y nuisance. They'd better not try invading America. Mr Trumpton will be apoplectic....
Strange weather here - can't make up it's mind whether to rain or be sunny. It does a bit of both then gives up. Might sow some more Spinach and take a look at the ickle tulips (Little Beauty) to see if they've opened yet. They're supposed to have a scent
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I'm off to bed, so good night all. I've enjoyed your chit chat. Sorry about DD's set back, but she might end up,with a better deal with another bank. Love the talk about the gorilla. I'd personally prefer an Orang, but there you go.
The pigeons round here don't have time to plot anything. Far too busy doing rude things on the fence and garage roof Still - have to admire their stamina
We watched the Colin Prior programme on Wednesday - absolutely loved it - thank you so much for the heads up about it. Took us about 2 hrs to watch it though - had to keep pausing it to discuss locations, the beauty of the Scottish hills, practicalities of walking up a mountain in the dark for sunrise, light levels, picture composition etc etc.
Great entertainment.
If you haven't already seen them , OH thought you might like to look at this series of videos featuring the hills - some good footage apparently
Those pigeons...I'm worried that they might try and move in T'bird....
They don't seem to be giving each other piggybacks - but perhaps they're doing that when I'm at work....
Glad you enjoyed the prog. The only issue with that show is that it's random. There can be 8 or 9 episodes, but they only show one - and it could be weeks or months when they show another. The sky pick up thing doesn't work with it either, so I just have to look through the schedules every so often. It's very annoying. Assynt/Torridon is generally reckoned to be the finest area for hills in Scotland...or anywhere else really. I know - I'm slightly biased
Cheers for the little link - the people who do that footage put their videos on walkhighlands regularly too. Spectacular aren't they? Wilkie Murray's photos are superb - he posts a lot of them on there too. He uses a drone and his shots from Beinn a Chrulaiste across to the Glencoe hills are terrific. It takes some effort to lug all the stuff up there, never mind anything else!

2 steps forward and 1 back, DD - but I'm sure you'll get there in the end. Better luck with the next bank manager!
I forgot to say yesterday, that though I took lots of photos of plants, I took none of the show gardens. Not really impressed this year. Maybe that's what comes of going to Chelsea - they don't stand comparison with the very best...
For some reason there was a "welly" theme at the Harrogate show, with lots of boots used as planters on the different stalls. I liked this interpretation, though:
- and this was quite an interesting use of a pallet, I thought:
An unscheduled vet visit this morning, with our moggie who's a bit poorly. She seems to have whatever the feline equivalent is of IBS, requiring expensive food, we are told. When she got back she climbed the bookcase in the spare room, so clearly she wasn't as near to death's door as she'd been telling us earlier.
Sometimes it's good to have visitors if you're naturally a slob... I was trying to tidy up the spare room in preparation for a visit by our daughter from Ireland this weekend, and as it's also our sewing and hobbies room, it was... a little over-full of stuff (ie a tip). All is now ready, though I need to do some shopping. She'll be here on her own this time, coming to sing as the soloist in a concert her dad is conducting in Crosby tomorrow.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Evening all. Just back from Jonah's 1st Birthday party. It was just a family affair so it was lovely being with the girls and the children. Can't believe how quickly the last 12 months have gone.
Babysitting Merri and Mabel tomorrow evening while firstborn and SIL are gigging at a wedding. So it will be a movie night complete with popcorn.
Hoping the weather is OK tomorrow so I can do a bit more in the garden.
Sorry to hear your news DD but good luck with the next bank.
