Car booked in for next Thursday. I'm not going to use it between now and then in case the fuse goes again ... Looks like I'll have lots of time for gardening image

    Good morning all,

Sorry to hear DD's news but I'm sure she will get there in the end.

Did anyone see the Chris Packham  programme a few days ago where Japanese girls were obsessed by a gorilla in a zoo believing he was flirting with them? He has white round the irises of his eyes rather than brown so they look very human.

    Morningimage

DD - sorry to hear your news - a setback - but I'm sure you will get there. As you said - you've learned a bit about sticking points etc so forewarned is forearmed for the next bank.

Glad you've got an appointment for the car Dove - at least you can get around on the bus - one advantage of city living and it'll save money if you can't be doing bulk purchases at the GCimage

Sorry you got a bit of an unexpected shower with the hose tap thingy Wonky - still, at least the kitchen's clean now eh?image

Had a lovely surprise trip out to Southwold yesterday. Went here for lunch -

OH had fish and chips and I made up my own seafood platter - very good. All washed down with a very dry sauvignon blanc. Bought 2 whole (ie not dressed) crabs for dinner tonight - will enjoy picking those later today & use the shells for a fishy stock image

Also went to a couple of nurseries on the way - looking for a particular aconitum (Royal Flush), and some other plants on my shopping list. Couldn't find any of the plants on the list but didn't stop me buying a Hosta, 4 hardy geraniums, brunnera and something else I've forgotten.

    Good day all roundimage

    Good purchases T'bird.

I have worked through the drizzle and all perennials are now planted.......nothing sitting waiting in pots, which is unusual for me image

Hello.  Sunny again but cold in the breeze.  I've had to up the watering of pots as the combination is very drying.

Been to the SM this morning so I'm free to garden this pm if I can brave that breeze.

DD - sorry you've had a setback but hope it helps you improve your presentation for the next bank.

Love a fishy lunch TB and looks like a good haul of plants.  Not seen that aconitum before.  Looks good.

I've seen that gorilla - or a pal - at several shows over several years.   'Bout time someone gave him a  good home - maybe some one with a jungle garden?

I hope we all get good weather this weekend.   I could do with some clouds some time as the windows need a good clean but I reckon I can cope with them mucky if that means sunshine.

  • Hi everyone.

Hope you have loosened up a bit Hosta - a quick run round the block should do it.

I have loads of English bluebells in the grass out the front and loads of what I believe are called "Spanish" bluebells which have come from nowhere.  Tried digging them up last year but they go mighty deep.  I was wondering how they came to be in my garden.   Could they be hybrid of English bluebells and hyacinths as they have characteristics of both?

Hosta - the hosta I bought is 'Guacamole'.

I have several blue / grey leafed hostas with various leaf forms, and some yellow variegated and white variegated ones. Was looking for one with large leaves in a rich green to tie things together - so this one jumped into my trolleyimage

T'interweb search suggests it will develop a subtle dark margin which will be a bonus.
