Busy day - got nearly all my seed trays pricked out - just Cosmos and tomatoes to go. Then came in and took Dad for a whizz round Wisley - we took it easy, but he said it is the furthest he has walked since his hospital stay over Christmas - so that is a good thing.
Hi everyone. I have been in wet Wales for a few days, and no T'interweb so out of touch. We arrived to find the potato patch was not dug over to my satisfaction, so I cracked the whip. We left the two men forking out roots and went to Crug Farm to show her what can be done with the area currently shaded out by large conifers. I succumbed to a few choice plants and then I planted potatoes. This morning I went on Criccieth beach to gather seaweed. Four binbags full later, two got washed and spread on the tatty bed, and two came home with us. I did indulge in a triple ice cream at Cadwaladers for my trouble.
I was going to take some photos of the wooded area, but this morning we were in low cloud, it was thick and drizzly. I guess the tatts won't need watering in.
Well done to wonky and DD for their good news. Fingers crossed for Clarington.
Ooh Fidget. Haven't been to Criccieth since I was a lass - several (many?) decades ago. However I do live not that far from beaches now so how much do I need to wash fresh seaweed before putting it on the garden or compost heap.
My favourite wine is also NZ Nobilo/Orca Bay but I can't get it here - so far - so OH brought me a dozen from Belgium.
Enjoyed GW tonight. OH liked the segment on lawn care and thought that NIck was a lovely chap. i'm just hoping he's learned something. Love Adam - such a nice man too - and guess what. Found some bindweed in one of my pots form the Belgian garden today. Humph! Quarantine for that one. Carol Klein is good on influential gardeners but so much better on plants and their propagation.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Well the greenhouse didn't need any attention while I was away.
Two large binbags of seaweed came home with me. Very useful are volvo estates.
I picked the dry black bladderwrack from the top tideline. The stuff I left behind was washed in a bucket, then sprinkled around the tatty patch to mulch/rot on the top. The bags I have bought home, I intend washing, drying, then shredding and adding to a dustbin of comfreyfeed from last year, plus any more comfrey leaves I can scavenge to make Fidgets super duper tomato food. Dilute to weak tea colour to use.
Nettles will go into a dustbin of nettle feed from last year, for use on brassicas.
You will note I have these dustbins as far away from the house as possible. It tends to get a bit pongy.
Just when Dove mentioned a square of dark chocolate we were eating 3 (each)!
Have been planting onions sets and sowing veg, earth very dry, had to water. Glad to hear it's raining at Dove's, hope that means my little bed at the cottage is being watered too. We'll be there in May. Taking the new Megane. She's very shiny and red but that won't last long, given the state of the drive.
I had a sort out of stuff in the old car and transferred the essentials to the new one. Threw a load of rubbish away, including a 2001 phone directory, and am left with a bagful of stuff I don't know what to do with!
There's been a horrid smell in the larder. Spent yesterday afternoon cleaning it and hoovering behind the fridge, but I can't get behind the freezer. It's on a step and too heavy. But the smell is much better. I have a lunch party on Sunday for friends who are moving back to England so the smell was not wanted! There will be 18 for lunch but some are bringing food.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Tucked up in bed now and falling asleep
I knew all that watering I did this morning would do some good ... We've had steady rain for an hour and a half now
You can thank me tomorrow ...
