Yes, a sombre feel to the day... I fear we humans will never learn the lessons of the past.
I hope at least that little Findlay is improving, LilyP, and you can see him soon.
Excitement in the living room this morning when the cat told us there was a bird down the chimney, again... We do now have a roofer booked to do some work for us, so when he's up there he can fit the cowl which has been sitting in the shed for a year now. But as he probably can't start until late summer, that's another year when the jackdaws may be looking for a suitable nest site in our chimney... At least this one left quite quickly, once we opened the smoke door, and left no sooty marks anywhere en route!
I'm hoping I can link to a wonderful, inspiring short film about wolves at Yellowstone which popped up on Facebook last night. We need something positive, I think.
Afternoon guys ???another day feeling rubbish so thought I do my garden shopping list for back garden for when I buy in apri/may whole garden to buy for??
were do you all buy most your plants I do get bit wary of buying plants online so end up spending extra in places like Dobbies etc
Hope you soon feel better, Amberspy. Nice to do a garden shopping list though...
I buy more plants than I have room for in my over-full garden, from the "reduced" bay in the garden centre where I used to work. Often they're plants which have finished flowering, or lost their labels, and if you recognise what you're getting they can be real bargains. But others I know swear by the "Secret Gardeners Club" on line.
Just come in for a cuppa. Nice out, but need lots of layers against the wind...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Amberspy - glad you're taking it easy. Get well soon.
I had a lovely chat over coffee/tea and biccies on the terrace this morning with gardening friend. Since then the sun's gone in and a bitter wind has sprung up. The rest of the day has been spent reading indoors.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Went to the covered market at Les Sables d'Olonne this morning and stocked up on fresh fish, clams, Barnsley chops and fruit and veg then a stroll along the front to our favourite restaurant round by the old fishing port. Lovely lunch for me and OH but Possum - who will insist on ordering steak - doesn't like caramelised stripes on her steak - which yo always get in French restaurants - so had a moan. Had to have words about sandwiches in future.
Thence to the Leclerc SM at Chateau d'Olonnes which is different and more cosmopolitan than our usual one at Luçon which is, in its turn, so much more cosmopolitan than the two at La Roche-sur-Yon. Then home for a sort out and a snoozle and watering my pots. They all have garden promotions on at the mo and OH was trying to persuade me we need some pale cream ybricks to edge our new beds. NOOOOooooooooooooooooo!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Is it the brick edging you object to Obxx, or the pale cream ?
Just back from the first bike ride of the season (I think I've said that before, but it rained, and I am definitely a fair weather cyclist). I love these light evenings
Amberspy - I buy nearly all my plants online - much more choice than my local GC. I use Secret Gardening Club for bargains, but Sarah Raven, Crocus, Hayloft and specialist nurseries for particular plants. You get 10% off the ones in my list if you are a GW subscriber, and I am very rarely disappointed with an online order
Obelixx, when we had a caravan several years ago, we used to holiday every year in St. Gilles Croix de Vie. You live in a lovely part of France, we used to regularly visit Les Sables and the surrounding area. The last time we went to St.Gilles, our son met his first girlfriend....she has now been his wife of ten years, so many happy memories.

Two back teeth filled this afternoon. Came home and got some weeding done.
