How sad about the waxwing. We rarely get them here in the west. We did have a little flock in the garden round the corner when oldest was a baby and the temps were minus ten for over a week. Their food supply had obviously diminshed and they'd headed further west.

Oh doc - we're all thinking of you often - I'm sure I can say that without anyone objecting. Drop in and out for a bit of support when  you need it. You have to do what is right for you.

Lovely blossom AuntyR - mine's on the verge of opening.  Gorgeous pix Obelixx and Pat. Lovely when there's a bit of sun shining image

Short day today as I was off and running (well, not quite...) by twenty past 9 and back at the car just before one. Tempted to nip up Beinn Each on the way back along the road.  Great views, no wet stuff, and only a few other people on the hill. Nice to sit and have a break in complete silence, with just the tweeting  meadow pipits for company. image

Sounds good FG.  Any pics today?

Dove, I've only saved the packet form one set of tulips and it just happens to be those - a mixed bag of Havran (deep purple) and Rajka.   The white daffs are either Thalia or Princess Zaide.   I've deadheaded them all now so can't be more precise.

Been out watering pots and thinking about what else and where else to put treasures in the hosta bed when our neighbour went past on her way back from walking the dog.  Long chat followed - once we sorted out our noisy dogs - so no planting done as I need to go and get scrubbed up for dancing.

Nothing planned tomorrow so I can play all day if I want.

Yes - loads of pix Obelixx. Including some 'cute' lambs image

They do look like Thalia in your photo. I love it - will get more to fill borders up this autumn I think. It was lovely coming back out the glen from Balquidder today - daffs and narcissus everywhere  image

Fairy, a great day for the Callendar area plus a short journey.

    Pdoc....decisions, decisions. Not easy

.Soaked part of the garden with the hose.  I think the wind has been drying it out rather than the sun although it has been beautiful today.

They were very cute Dove, and very healthy, but there was some real tiddlers in other areas  image

and still a few 'lamb filled' yows as well image

My batteries have run out for the mouse so the rest of the photos will have to wait till they charge up.image

I soaked the front grass yesterday Joyce. The wind has been really drying here too and I still had some undissolved weed and feed on it   image

I suppose that the relationship between Pat's post of a 'Golden Shower' rose and Dovefromabove's post about Donald Trump's hairstyle is purely fortuitous.image Just in case, see http://nymag.com/thecut/2017/01/the-sheer-perfection-of-donald-trumps-golden-shower.html

No comment Papi Jo.  Too awful t contemplate whether true or false.  I'll stick with flowers.

pleasure Dove.  i don't usually buy mixes, or indeed tall tulips, but I had no beds last autumn when we arrived so was looking for stuff to put in pots to brighten up the spring and this was one of the few packets left in the shops before everything changed for Xmas "grottoes".

Actually a nice day here (don't think that was expected),  seed delivery turned up so my eldest boy helped sow courgettes and peppers.

I went into the garage outside to find a couple of small pots and noticed the 'overspill' tomatoes had disappeared... I assume that'll be mice in there ?.  Maybe they were the ones that took chunks out of my dahlia tubers a few days ago too...  I hope they are straightforward to persuade to move on!  Best get googling how to hurry them along.

At least the disappearing tomatoes provided me with the small pots I needed, so every cloud and all that ?.
