Have battled my way back and forth thru the flowermarket -very crowded, but found lots of treasures - including a lovely frilly pale peach geum, a tender lavender and a lilac shrub with lovely airy flowers. Now sat in the park in the sunshine with coffee and a book Bliss ??☕️?
I left several lovely geums behind assuming I would find loads here but so far, only Totally Tangerine. Hoping the ones I did bring grow well and spread.
Dove - lots of fairly dense hedgerow here and some wild bits of land not too far away with scrubby bits. This song was coming from trees along the road where our garden meets the neighbours' garden. They have lots of shrubs and small trees in their corner.
Far too cold and windy too do much without donning so many layers I won't be able to move so may just curl up with a book myself, indoors, now that the mint jelly has got to the straining phase. Took me ages to find where I've stashed the muslin!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Good day at work. Early out on the road, early for every customer. No complaints and I have to say I've never seen the sea at Crackington Haven look so beautiful . I got to drive through twice to day.
Got home to find Hubby zonked out on the sofa. BUSTED!!!!
Tomatoes pricked out I've been very firm with myself and only potted up the number that I'll need for myself and friends rather than doing every single one and ending up living in a tomato jungle for most of the summer. Basil and courgettes potted on, and rudbeckias and monarda pricked out too.
The birds are making lots of use of our birdbath ... there were three starlings sharing and splashing about a little while ago ... we're refilling it twice a day at the moment. The robins are helping themselves to live mealworms from a dish on the garden bench in the far corner - as soon as they empty it they come to a fence post near the house and start shouting at us

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Afternoon all, Had a busy few days on Nanna Duty but today I have been in the garden. Grass mowed and edged, some pond plants put in, weeding done and the remnants of the grape hyacinths removed from the front garden. Have another free day tomorrow, not sure what I'll do with it.
Dove, will give N Cornwall your love if you'll do the same for me in September, we sometimes go in the Autumn too. A couple of weeks (months?) ago you and Hosta were discussing Delabole and Setters and I had to smile. We went once and I asked how on earth they had such a big menu. Answer was 'we have a massive freezer'. It's long since closed down - can't think why. Have you ever stopped off and had a look into the slate quarry? Pretty impressive hole and having done some family history stuff a few years back I discovered my maternal great great great grandfather worked there back in the mid 19th century.
Mowed front lawn and cleaned the car, not very thoroughly but it'll only get dirty again. Dentist tomorrow early and then cleaning/packing etc. Son tells me it's going to snow in Cornwall next week, sure he's telling porkies although we don't go there for the weather.
A friend posted at the weekend that it was snowing at our old house in Belgium. The wind here has swung more to the north which means the front of the house - south - is lovely and warm now. I've been out watering treasures and putting rusty obelisks on enthusiastic clematis waiting for permanent homes in the ground. Frost expected Wednesday and Thursday so I'm been moving things about too to give some protection.
OH has been manfully digging away the edge of the grass where it has grown over the drive in teh last few years. Hard labour and we're going to need to edge it somehow.
Cosmos has been rolling in the fine grey gravel chippings that make up the drive and is no longer white. Minstrel has been patrolling her territory for insects and small mammals. The neighbour tells me she will also find grass snakes. Cosmos hasn't a clue about hunting bu does love to chew cardboard boxes and leave confetti all over the floor for him to kill later.

I'm truly sorry about that. Never mind Donald T. and his pranks and do enjoy your G...S... rose. To be forgiven I'm posting a pic of the rose I have in flower at the moment, delightful Madame Alfred Carrière. Unpretentious look but such a delicate scent!

I have serious nightingale envy now
