Yippee! She didn't come tonight. We're relaxing in front of the TV.

We've dug a moat around your place and pulled the drawbridge up Pat image

Good heavens! 3 years already since Dove retired. I remember that year, every other post Dove wrote had the word retirement in it!

I missed that comment - it's not three years is it Dove?  image

Missed your post too Wonks - I posted at the same time but it didn't appear later for some reason. The weird and wonderful quirks of the site  image

Glad you all like the pic. Not much chance of any sunsets or sunrises today and tomorrow unless I travel to Shetland apparently - according to the girl on the Scottish weather forecast  image

    Hope the shoulder improves BL.

Enjoy your peace and quiet Pat. Bet you're relieved  image

Hmmm.  Digging a moat might be a bit difficult on our rocky hillside. Good thought though Dove. image

Thanks for the good wishes from Hosta and Wonky as well.  It's so strange to have rain. All those weeks that we had a heat wave, I had to let the garden go, because I can't safely be out in the hot sun,  so I've been waiting for some cooler weather, but now that it HAS cooled, it's too wet!   I'm not complaining about getting rain though.   My chance will come soon, and the garden won't know how to cope without all the weeds. image

    Morning all!

I don't think I was around when Dove retired; it's nearly 4 years since I joyfully gave up paid employment and I've never regretted it.  No time to be bored, and still not enough hours for everything I want to fit in!

Re ferry/plane travel; we're braving the ferry to Ireland again this summer, as we're having a week together as a family in Donegal (that's OH and me, son & DIL, daughter & SIL & 2 granddaughters) in July.  (We've booked a big house right next to a beach.)  Anyway, we've plumped for the flexibility of driving to Cairnryan, in Dumfries & Galloway, for the ferry to Larne and the interesting drive through Northern Ireland, rather than the quick but impersonal Ryanair flight to Derry.  Hopefully even I won't manage to be seasick during a 2-hour crossing in July...  image

Great news about your rain, Pat.  That must be a relief!  Still sounds like a very low total for the summer months though, compared with last year's.

Lovely sunset, Fairy.  Hope you could see your way down ok...

Wonky, that sounds to have been a job and a half.  So satisfying though!

It's NOT RAINING so I'm going shopping.  Hope my coat is dry from yesterday... hate umbrellas too, particularly their habit of turning inside out and turning you into Mary Poppins.  image

I have to say, I'm a fan of a gentleman's walking length black umbrella. I used to use one regularly on my 2 mile walk to,and from, school in Greenock. I'm only surprised I didn't get beaten up for it , or had it nicked.

Pleasant, scenic route to Cairnryan Liri.

Sun is trying to come out, I hope.   Visitors after lunch so not much chance of getting anything done in garden.

Hope it's a gentle crossing on the ferry for you to the cottage this month then,Liri.  image

Yes - still just light when I got back to the car yesterday - 6 o clock. Last few hundred feet has a good path though, so it's not too big a problem.  I used to have a head torch, so I really should invest in one again image

Just ventured out in the drizzle to pull the first rhubarb of the year - I'll roast it now and a Rhubarb and Custard Cake will happen later ...
