I've been out in the garden again and now the whole of the big herb bed has been dug over and prepared for replacement sage, rosemary, French tarragon and other herbs.

Other bits and pieces have been done and some of the big containers watered, but I think that's enough for today - the sofa, the knitting and a James Stewart western beckon ... anyone got the kettle on?

Hello again everyone from windy Scotland.  image

Luckily it's too cold for me too stand out here getting annoyed reading stupid posts on other threads.  I know what I think of you lot on here, and it's all good... Hugs to those in need.

No curlews at present, just a pair of amorous seagulls on the chimney serenading each other while I chop down brambles.  Might need a nip of that gin when I get back in, cos in spite of all the layers I'm getting frozen.  image

Gales tomorrow.  Hope the ferries will be ok on Tuesday...  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Fresh pot of decaf just made Dove.  Help yourself.

Does tarragon like the same conditions as sage and rosemary?   I need a new plant and have always kept them in pots before so I could shelter them from winter in Belgium.

OH is home from golf and has won 10 green euros to spend at a garden centre.  Not a completely wasted morning then.   I have had a good rootle with house plants which have been picked over and watered.

Here are the hemerocallis with L&L.  I think the former are winning at the mo.

    Cheers Obelixx image

I need a new tarragon too Obelixx - I'd always managed to get it through the winter with no problem (just put a big upturned pot over it)  but the mild winter of 2015/16 seemed to polish it off image

This place isn't far from here http://www.norfolkherbs.co.uk/herbs.html so I thought I'd pay them a visit in a week or two - they say that they're happy for folk to phone and see what they've got in stock, even if it's not shown as available on their website. image

So when posters ask how to get rid of L&L we can say, plant day lilies? image

That's a dangerous looking place!  I just used to buy a new one in the supermarket each spring.  Haven't seen many potted herbs on sale here in SMs yet.   It's the winter wet they don't like, not just the cold.

Think tarragon does Obelixx, although it's not a herb I'm fond of so I've never grown it. image

I keep herbs in pots mainly - easier to keep the Med types happy.

Liri - have you chained yourself onto summat to stop you doing a Mary Poppins?  image

Think it's to settle down a bit by Tuesday. It was a bit dodgy the day after you went - lots of cancellations including the Lismore one.

I've been out doing seeds but the wind's cold so I had to come in to get some feeling back in my hands. Can't do gloves either, which doesn't help image

Some sweet peas sown as well as lettuce, harebells and rocket. I've also done some perennials which are  a new venture for me. Usually buy plants and do cuttings or division. Probably be a disaster, but at least it's not a hideously expensive one!

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Been busy in the garden. Divided totally tangerine again...3 more plants...the thing is rampant and has been flowering all through winter!

Down a trays of cosmos, snapdragon phlox and cornflowers

Planted a new shrub, Deutzia Scabra. Potted up some aqualigia, potted 2 cactus Dahlia, planted 30 Ixia and 25 Freesia in the pallet planter, potted up 3 amethyst phlox and 2 bright eyes pale pink phlox and a couple of other things but can't remember what now...will confess another day when labels have been dug out of shed image

Join you in a large gin if that's alright Topbird and Dove?! image

Lirio join us for a gin! Sounds like its a bit blustery there! Same with you it sounds Fairy! Spent most of the day out in the garden but the wind is not kind now its clouded over! Duvet having an air on the pergola, haven't put the washing line back up yet! Gonna slob on a sofa now.

Obelixx, I've never grown tarragon as like Fairy, I'm not fond of the flavor, just had to do some radical pruning to my purple sage though! Hope it recovers! image

Help yourself Wonky image and I will have a piece if I may ... chicken's just gone in the oven so it'll be a couple of hours before we eat.

Deutzia is lovely - I might take a cutting image

Just had a tall silver haired chap on the doorstep wanting me to be interviewed for social research for a company called
