LP, have been out to feed the birds and you are right. . . .cccold and the wind is stronger than I thought. SM it is and will pop into B&Q ( since it's 10% off day for the oldies) and see if anything appeals for the garden
Back from SM - I bought hot cross buns too & I've just eaten one (yum). On offer so would have been rude not to buy 2 pacs. One for eating per normal and one for making a bread & butter pud this weekend.
That picture from BM is now in my head
I was thinking about DD last night as well. Hope you look in from time to time DD - no need to post if you don't feel like it - but we're thinking of you.
Hope the gardening plans go ok WW - been raining hard here. Haylofts have good plug plant offers on for hellebores. Will probably flower next spring if you buy them now and nurture them. Mine have done very well and are full sized plants 2 years on.
SGL - Lyn is still around on other threads I think
Doc - you need a box round the ears if you need to even think about whether it should be Kylie or OH (My OH might have the same problem though if somebody dangled Katey Humble Bumble in front of him...)
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
OH went out to clear up the broken in two by the wind pine tree but the garden tractor has a puncture. He can't get the wheel off. Was going to ask our log man who does odd jobs, but he can't come to do the fencing this afternoon after all.
I hope the medicines help you feel better Lily P.
Lyn has been around on gardeny threads. I'm still in touch with her.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afternoon all. I like Hosta's new name. Not so keen on the weather which is grey and mis but stuck indoors painting so not a worry really and the ground needs to soak up lots of moisture. Chappy has been down to finish pointing and has put a collar on the CH boiler's metal chimney tostop draughts from the annex roof.
After moaning on the gallery thread that my new crocuses in the grass hadn't showed, there's a dozen flowering out there this morning. How do they do that with no visible foliage? Great to see them.
What a chatty lot you've been this morning. Far too much to comment on so I shall simply wish you all a good day and a get well hug for all the lurgy sufferers.
Fairy - thank you. PM to follow.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Obelixx, hope your OH has now forgiven you for planting those crocuses in the grass. They are wonderfully cheerful this time of year - and mine were full of honey bees this morning.
Bread & butter pud made with hot cross buns is fab. Hope there are some leftovers, Topbird...
Windy but sunny here. I and three other park volunteers spent the morning setting in wooden edging for a new path, across one of the areas left bare when all the rhododendrons had to be removed. It's going to provide wheelchair access to a sunny seating area, with a lavender hedge around, and wild flowers next to the path. We've got a range of bare root trees & shrubs, mostly native, to plant further back in the area to blend in with the mature trees which remain.
Now I'm off out to do a bit in my own garden.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Afternoon all. Just nipping in thanks to works internet to try and check up on you. I'm hoping everyone has been busy having adventures of the POSITIVE kind.
We've got plasterboard throughout MOST of the house. The plasterer.... well he didn't have the best of times last weekend starting with dropping 20 boards off the trolley in Wickes on his way to us. It got worse from then on (broken tools, accidentally flooding the new ceiling he'd just put up....)
Hopefully this weekend will soon be here and he can skim and finish the house ready for us to stand and stare. Its so odd not seeing a sea of bricks! In a way... I rather miss them. The room already look smaller and square. But his lordship keeps asking about curtains and furnishings and... I've been living in a renovation in progress house since last Easter. I'm not sure I am prepared to think it might actually be the stage where we think about furnishings. I mean... curtains? I don't even remember what the old curtains were like. Pictures on the wall? Hang about I'm just getting used to HAVING walls.
He's also starting to talk about the next phase of works we need doing. I know we need them doing. My wash room isn't going to magically appear. But as I walk around my house with a head torch on and plan another filling meal based on how few utensils I can use (less boiling a kettle on the gas to do the washing up) I can't help but think that perhaps
Just perhaps
A little holiday first might be in order?
Keep safe everyone. There is light at the end of this tunnel. Unfortunately we haven't decided whether we want pendent, spot light, or whether the lampshade should match the hallway...

Oh, thank you Top bird and BL.
We're in touch but it's been a little while now. But I thought she'd left here and joined another forum. Will have a mooch and see if I can find her.
