You wouldn't get much gardening done here either Wonks - ground's nicely frozen now after being waterlogged from the neverending rian all weekend. Car will need some serious defrosting - it'll have that crazed patterning if the other cars I can see are anything to go by
Supposed to get some snow showers later, but we migth miss them. Think LP might get some, and Lesley too.
Oscars - main headline on the BBC news? Really? I mean.. really? Has the world gone mad...oh yes, I forgot...it has
I hope you get extra for that Clari. I wouldn't have thought that was your job to clear up anyway. A teacher I used to know, wasn't allowed to do anything in her school when that happened. Kids had to stand/sit in it until the relevant parent could be contacted. Ridiculous though. I realise it's different when it's at night, but even so....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
More rain overnight, but dry now with chunks of blue showing.
Re Waitrose delivering on Sundays. Supply and demand I suppose. As a devout atheist, I have no issue with Sunday trading / delivery. If customers want it , then so be it. If we didn't deliver, they'd go somewhere else. We have about 10 drivers ( hard to keep up ) and only 4 deliver on a Sunday. Nobody at Waitrose is forced to work on Sundays. What amazes me is folk who order from Sainsbury's and Asda and Tesco who deliver until 11pm. Now that's madness .IMHO
We were on holiday somewhere, Thailand?, Malaysia?? and the only English language channel on the hotel tv had Midsomer Murders on every night at the time we'd have our nightcap. What a pile of plap it was. I hated it.
There's a campaign against Sunday shopping in Belgium on the grounds that it mostly affects women working at the tills and who would be better off at home with their family. However, on the few occasions I nipped out for something the place was heaving with other others doing their big family shop for the week. Bigger stores have got as far as "Collect and Go" but not yet delivering tho that will surely come. I enjoy doing my own shopping and hope it will be many a year before I need deliveries.
Wild and woolly out there this morning but supposed to be better up at Nantes.
Hope everyone has a good day, whatever you're doing.

I worked in B&Q years ago when the whole sunday trading thing was being argued and this argument was often used. In reality, many women worked with me who were delighted to get out of the house, away from their kids and let their husbands look after them so they could mix with adults, and have some independent income.
I'd say, if the job / hours don't suit you, don't apply for it.
Like religious types who are Registrars won't take part in Same sex marriages , or Muslims who won't handle alcohol at a checkout. "you're in the wrong job"
They've had unrestricted Sunday Trading in Scotland since not long after the war and it hasn't led to civil breakdown and folk , if they want to , still manage to go to church.
IMHO I think shops should be open 24 hours a day if they, their staff, and their customers want it.
Office day today. Couldn't garden anyway. Ripped into thumb with a rose thorn yesterday & it feels as though a tiny piece may have broken off in there. Need to Google for home made poultice recipes when I get home.
Sun is shining now but we had quite a bit of rain in the night which the garden needed. Will probably start mulching this week now I can see where some of the treasures are - and it's better if the ground is wet.
Feel so sorry for Clari's little beaver (can I really say that?) Poor lad will probably have been absolutely mortified and anxious that it might happen again if he goes for another sleepover. Doesn't matter how kind the adults were at the time. Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight Clari.
I don't have strong views regarding Sunday trading / deliveries so long as nobody is forced to work against their will on their own particular Sabbath. That applies to all religions not just christians. I do agree with Hosta though really. People shouldn't knowingly apply for jobs with working conditions which may conflict with their beliefs.
Must get on....

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Who would Adam and Eve it, a film about black homosexuality in the USA, wins best film Oscar? Maybe not very important in the grand scheme of things, but I think it might just mean something.
On the downside, you should not get PIP, if you are just at home taking pills for anxiety. I was turned down, because even though I needed OH to drive me to the assessment centre, I was able to walk in unaided.
I appealed and won, most people are not in a position to do that.
Rant over.
No change of gardening again, pouring down, when will it stop. I am so far behind.
Have a good one everybody.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I remember being in Texas in '88 and supermarkets were open 24/7, even in a bible belt. At the same time there were people driving round in pickups with shotguns and rifles attached to the cab. I am a devout atheist too but am happy for people to observe their own religious or other beliefs as long as they don't ram them down my throat or disrespect other people's beliefs or lack of them.
Good fun at the Oscars but coverage definitely OTT.
TB - when I got a big thorn in my thumb and it got badly infected, the doc removed what he saw (a teeny speck) and then told me to soak it 3 times a day in a solution of iodine/bétamine antiseptic and squeeze out any remaining infection. 3 days later, out popped a 13mm splinter......... Felt a lot better after that. Good luck with yours.
