I love Daphne bholua Jacqueline Postill. I had a grafted one originally, but after about five years it got to about five feet high and the graft failed. I then got a rooted cutting. That was doing well until we had the mega frost of minus 15 C and it turned up its toes. I agree, the scent is wonderful. For the time being I am managing with Viburnum bodnantense Dawn.
My pots of bulbs are coming along well now. Snowdrops are starting to show white in the garden now. Spring is around the corner, but I wish we had booked a holiday for February. Maybe next year. Troble is, at the time you need to book, I don't feel like I need it, then as Winter sets in, I need the sunshine more and more.
Cats are funny things. Lenny the bengal cat that belongs one of the neighbours, pops around at lunchtime to see if there is anything going spare. Both of my sisters and my mum have had neighbours cats moved in with them.
Daphens couldn't cope with my Belgian garden and Bodnantense Dawn only ever flowered very sparsely. I'm hoping to do better with winter perfumed shrubs here.
It is raining! A generous 0.5mm overnight and one more since this morning. We have, as planned, done the fridge swap and cupboard dismantling. OH is at the dump with the corpse and then still has to walk the hounds. I shall have a long, hot shower and rest the toe some more and then I'll be ready for shower room chappy to come and talk details and likely costs.
OH has now agreed we can do the 100 metre fence ourselves but still wants the green grid stuff at the side of the house for my courtyard garden. Not my preference but he's also said yes to the mini-digger for the potager so I'll concede that one.
Sorry you've had a relapse Dove. Hope you don't Busy.
Keep warm and dry everyone.

Have a look at Viburnum bod. 'Charles Lamont' - I think it's prettier than Dawn, the buds being intense pink opening to white flowers and a really good scent.
Must admit I feel very sorry for myself and have curled up on the sofa
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Weather is due to turn disgusting. Curl up with a plant manual or two , Dove. Its not fit to go out. I've done the shopping today, plenty of supplies. I may not surface before Monday.

Obelixx, the use of a mini-digger will be of immense help and you will probably be able to hide the fence.
Dove, sorry you are feeling rotten again........further rest before we get into the 'swing' of spring gardening.
Good idea to curl up.
Might be struggling for one of those round here. The biggest local nursery has a few viburnums listed on page 62 of their catalogue - http://www.pepinieres-boutin.com/ressources/fichiers/1939fd8be16b.pdf Anyone know the odorontissima?
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, Dove. It's a really horrid virus.
Obelixx, Promesse des Fleurs has Dawn, but not 'Charles Lamont'. https://www.promessedefleurs.com/arbustes/arbustes-par-variete/viornes-viburnums.html

I've found it here Busy - http://www.jardindupicvert.com/4daction/w_partner/viburnum_x_bodnantense_charles_lamont.395 Do you know them? Looks lovely.
No, I don't know them, but I'll enjoy looking at their site. Thank you.
Evening all.
Warmest hugs for Dove.
Really horrid day here. Rain and wind. Too much to work outside , too noisy to work in the tunnels. I've been reading The Garden. I'm up to July now.
