my broad beans are doing well. Plan to sow sweet peas this week and astrantia, love astrantia...and Alan Gray says sow now with a bit of grit on top and they should do their thing ?
I hope it's ok to join this discussion. These are my seedlings. I've got a nice bay window facing south, so I'm trying to do a few seed batches over the next few months, hopefully potting on those that do well to create space for the next batch. I'm only a beginner (second year) so still probably making lots of mistakes.
The first has begonias (too tiny to see but they are there) and antirrhinum at the front and peppers at the back. These are all seeds bought from Wilko or the Range. Sowed all these on 15th January. I tried peppers last year and they never properly ripened, so I thought I'd try and start them much earlier this year.
Next at the front are a purple looststrife and a teasel that I collected seeds from a local park and planted in October. I put some teasels outside to compare growth, which is about as scientific as I'm ever likely to get. Behind them are dianthus and catmint seedlngs shop bought seeds which I sowed on 15th Jan.
Next are a single scabiosa (beaujolais bonnet) seedling, that I collected from a neighbour's plant, but only this one on the front left has appeared so far. Front right are salvias and at the back are geraniums and lobelia (tiny like the begonias) all shop bought seeds. All these sowed on 15th Jan.
Finally these are a bit older. Sowed in October, there are apricot sprite (I think called Agastache) that I collected from a neighbour's plant and had been a free promotion packet of seed but looked nice, then the buddleias, which were like dust when I sowed them, and finally there are some cardinal flowers that are also from collected seeds.
Hope the photos are ok. People snigger when they see the phone I'm still using.

They look great loana.
Just made a light wall for my seedlings.
Geoff Hamilton, made a light box so I've adapted it.
That's a great idea, Logan. I remember making those as reflectors for photography and college, didn't think about using them for seeds!
That's ok Tigrah. My concervatory hasn't got a glass roof, it's a flat one. So it's ideal.
I still have to move them around each day.
