Aym, the seed compost is my own mix as I've never found one I'm happy with - most seem a bit on the heavy side.  It's about 30% Westland MPC, 30% Wickes own MPC and 30% Westland seed compost with about 10% perlite, all sieved and mixed.  I've been using the same 'formula' for a few years and it seems to work well. image

I'm doing a raised bed of curly-leaf parsley this year, rather than just a 3 gallon pot.  I go through a LOT of parsley cooking.  :)  It's along the back driveway and is shaded pretty much by the roof overhang.  It should do well there.  Just peeking out of the soil this week.  :)   It makes such a pretty border plant.  image  I did a huge bed of it in Texas City years ago from seed, but have done bedding plants ever since.  This is my first "from seed" parsley in about 15 years.  Doing some flowers from seeds this year, but the seed packets haven't arrived yet.   That's a clump of purple Ruella down at the point, and some leaf plant I don't know the name of that crops up all over this property.

Just wondering is anybody sowing cosmos yet? I'm thinking of sowing some in mini growhouse this weekend and direct sow some more when frosts are over. I have already sowing some other perennials and annuals but holding off on the cosmos. I've so many seeds that i might risk it image

Thanks Aym. Good idea on budget and collecting seeds. I bought some more seeds on ebay last night including Cerinthe major and Cosmos Xanthos. I'm looking forward to sowing some more seeds this weekend image

Thanks for the tip Aym. I read somewhere you are meant to soak them before. That's worrying about eBay seeds. I got them from seedsworld. Seem to be a big seller so hope I'll be okay.. image Normally stick to seedaholic but they were out of stock of erigeron. I've so many seedlings to repot this weekend. Need a lot of patience for growing seeds but I love it image

I buy all my seeds from eBay, never let down, what isn't a good idea is to buy seeds from China.

Morning Lyn. My phlomis russeliana seeds have started germinating. Have yours?

SGL was asking after you , in a warm, loving way, recently.

Same here, sowed them late last year and left them outside. Hope I can bring them on, sure I can?

Star Gaze Lily is a beautiful person, very good to me when I needed someone. ( as were several other people I must add)

    quick question if thats ok

Growing lots of different seeds in a heated propagator, once the seed have germinated (which seems to be 3-5 days regardless of what the packet says) am I best to take the trays off the heat or keep them on it ?

trying to optimise my method :)

Or any other hints or tips would be appreciated

    Many thanks

    Peter
