All the photos are just square clear boxes, so I can't see them. Hopefully it'll get sorted later so that I can enjoy them.

The Japanese Maples are starting to change colour now, so I moved two potted ones into the patio so I can have full benefit. In the background are a few more planted  Acers, of varying sizes.

I've cut back the whites in pots, LP, but not the ones in the shadier border (also in a pot) - they're still going well. They really don't do as well in the sun as the darker types - even when we've had far less of it than usual.

Do you grow yours in the ground or in pots r'girl? I mainly grow in pots, but as I have a few gaps at the moment where I've been making new borders, I've had some in the ground this year. Much better without doubt, but all the soil is improved for them as it's heavy clay here. I mainly sow direct in mid/late spring, as they soon catch up with any sown a bit earlier, so it's not really worth doing. They're like teenagers if planted out in the cold temps too early - they just sulk and sit there doing nowt! image

Know what you mean about the seasons, but I have a poor sense of smell where plants are concerned, so I quite like having them there by the bench - if I ever sit on it  image

Love the bee pic AuntyR image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Been checking all pots today and was pleased to see the French Lavender which had a "do or die" haircut in July has grown and re-flowered.

Garden's a mess  this time of year so I  try to focus  on the  little  things  rather  than  the  big  picture.

Anyone  know what the green beetle is?

This  cosmos is pink  with  embarrassment as it's the  first time it's flowered  this  year.

  • Nice flowers, B3.

How wide was the green beetle?  It looks a bit edge-on in the photo.  Lots of shield beetles have that "W" pattern on their backs, but they're quite broad.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Lovely acer, Joyce.

Still plenty of colour though, B3.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh I have an Acer like that, Joyce, but it hasn't coloured yet. I have eight Acers in total so will post more as they change.

    Love the Fuschia B3 - I could fancy a non-pink one.

The beetle was the size of a small ladybird but not as rounded
