Meant to say - Hurray, the garage tap has de-frosted and I've filled all the horses' water bins!

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Cause for celebration indeed BL image

Indeed.  Humping water buckets about is a pain in the proverbial.   How was the memorial service?

Just back from the vet where the kittens have been thoroughly prodded and poked and weighed and jabbed.   They've had the rabies jabs too in case we need to take them to Belgium or the UK and that means 3 more weeks confined to barracks.  They'll be climbing the walls!

It turns out the vet's wife is Vietnamese so on Saturday we'll be celebrating the lunar new year please as she doesn't approve of anything Chinese.   Needless to say he can't recommend a good restaurant as he gets proper Vietnamese food at home but he has told me about 2 shops where I can get fresh oriental herbs and spices.  Goody.

Round the corner and along a bit there is a quarry and they have dropped off a New Year card with a 50% off voucher for all the neighbours.  Presumably nuisance appeasement although we never hear the explosions or have any trucks going past so no worries. Must go and see what they quarry.  All we can see from the road is evidence of an enormous hole.  The quarry and its road are called "Le Danger".  Hilarious.

    afternoon all.

My day didn't go quite as planned.

Trolley jack didn't turn up ( friend " forgot" ) so I thought I retrain some roses on a pergola. The top of the post ( 3" chestnut posts") in one corner was a bit rotten but I reckoned it was fine as not supporting any great weight. I was tying one of the stems to it and leaned against it and heard a rather nasty crack as it gave way at the base.

Now I  have to remove the plastic mesh from the old post, untangle the rose, carefully remove the clematis, remove what's left of the stump and fit a new post. ggrrr.

My daughter has suggested we catch Taboo on catch up , so we might give the first episode. Has anyone else been watching it?

    Devon.

Its a bit dark. I think it helps if you know a bit of history about the East India company and its shenanigans over Nootka sound.

I emailed Nora. Messages reporting kitchen spammers were not getting though, although they seem to have gone now.  It makes a change having spammers complaining about kitchens. Reverse psychology maybe.?

I watched the first series of No Offence on catch up and then straight into the new series. I thought the first one was quite good. I have to say that  Silent Witness is getting more and more ludicrous.

    I'm all for a " bit dark".

I too , although still like it, am finding Silent Witness a bit silly. Do home office pathologists really traipse round to folks houses when police are following up leads etc? I can't imagine so.

Silent Witness is nowhere near as silly as Sherlock!  Saw an interview with the woman who plays the forensic scientist and apparently her personal life is going to be introduced to "round out her character".   Why?  Nicky Alexander's character and private life is kept private.

Evenin' all. Dreich, dank miserable day here. Just as well it's dark now and I don't have to look at it  image

I love No Offence, fidget. Took me a little while to get it, but It really is brilliant.

I've never really liked Silent Witness. Preferred the other one, whose name I've now forgotten, which was in a similar vein. With Trevor Eve   image

I've now also forgotten everything I've just read. image

Hosta with cleaned drains and broken posts, Obelixx and posts needing put up, visits to rellies and cinemas, and £3.30 for the train to Oban....don't tell everyone Liri - they'll all come image

I think you're being optimistic about it not being windy in March though.....image

Apologies to everyone and everything I can't remember. It's been a busy day.

I think you could do a simple pergola Obelixx, without too much trouble. Even easier if you have a jigsaw image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Waking the Dead - we've been watching episodes we missed years ago as they're on again.  One of the Sky channels.  Alibi?

Got a jig saw.  Just a long time since I've used it.  Even have a router somewhere but some b*stard nicked all the bits and I haven't used it for 15 years or more.

Clear skies again so it will be cold but full views of Venus being very bright.   Fingers crossed that asteroid the size of a house passes without incident!

Anyone watching Martin Clunes in the Australian Islands? The bit on Rottnest where he is on his bike, we stayed in the white hotel room on the left in the background. I'm sure that Quokka is the same one as well.image
