Aym: I'm sure spring will come along and they'll be in your garden in no time!
Loana: I have those same two boxes! Plan on putting them both up this week! If the Robin box doesn't work out, it may be better around that corner, I think they like a more sheltered area than the other bird boxes do, as their nest isn't so sheltered. Probably be just as good where it is, though
I have took down a few bird houses need to clean them and find a new place, looked in one other than spiders found which I got out - there may have been some sort of nest made mainly from sphagnum moss bits of hair and bits they must of took from someones planter not sure if they stayed to have kids in the nest
I had to remove bits of ivy and bramble away from the house right over the hole and off the box to take down
So not sure whether to put that box back in the same place after clearing and pruning where it was - It did have just spiders in it the year before they seem to steal all the bird boxed to dry homes
Thank you flowers and aym. I think I did see that thread earlier in the month but it's too soon for me to have seedlings and if I don't post I don't get email notifications. The threads can go by fast on followed threads so I miss things.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Aym280 good bee hotels, did see a bee around bigish one when I was doing the bird count, will have to see what plant would be good at this time of year incase they are out and about
Morning aym, never heard of birds having sugar water. I make a sugar water / syrup for butterflies and then place a thin piece of sponge In the dish, this soaks it up and also serves as ' landing point ' for the butterflies. On very hot days need to check frequently and top up.

What kind of poppies have you sown at this time of year Aym?

aym, which is the Gardengirl's thread that you were talking about? I thought you meant this one http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/anyone-done-any-gardening-today---version-3/987672-32.html#latest but it isn't. Or is it the seed one? I'll go and have another look.
BL , I think aym was talking about Gardengirl's ' Watching Seedlings Grow 2017'. Scroll back to yesterday as there haven't been any posts today.

It's too early for delphiniums to be that tall, they'll grow weak and spindly at this time of year. They should be asleep.
