Amy280 I will start the thread for seedings in the new year so watch out for it,
Hostafan1 good if the cuttings of my apple grow quick - I will keep the trimmed - just nice to see something that I took a cutting of grow, trees are on root stock I will buy some trees next year
Vishu is it summer where you are picking strawberries?
Anyone grown a plum tree and managed to eat the plums or do they have get problems
I have one Gardengirl but it had already been here when we arrived 12 years ago...I just prune overlapping branches and mulch the base, apart from the birds, we get quite a bit each year ?
We planted a Victoria plum at our last place - we had loads of plums every year - by the third year we had to prop the branches up - enough for crumbles and a load of jam as well as picking them and eating fresh from the tree.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Can't remember what they taste like shops not got any
there is a plum tree right at bottom of garden self seeded I think from next doors tree, it got bugs on plums and went shrivel up and go slimey - going to try winter wash spraying it on
Aym, is privet an easy to grow tree? I don't know. I too, dont have much experience with bonsai , used to keep banyan and ficus religiosa as bonsai.....then gifted them, when changed house, now I wanna try again with these trees. Will keep you updated.
Gardengirl, nope it's winter, coldest part of the year............. Mean temp below 15°C and heavy fog. I live near tropic of cancer so winters are not as severe as yours......... But still pretty darn cold!!
Yay Gardengirl?. I will be looking out for your new seed thread also
As well as sowing my usual flowery pretties and experimenting with edibles for my tiny town garden I have a new challenge for next year. My daughters boyfriend gave me a bonsai growing kit
Last year it was a "Funky Veg Kit". The courgettes were fab?, the purple carrots
Not much gardening per se. But I will be tidying my shed this weekend... I've bought some shelves, hooks and boxes to put everything in its place. Will be relief when i get all my tools out of the spare bedroom.
I'll also be moving the bird feeder and adding some fat balls.

Amy280 my neighbour at allotment has bamboos and he feeds them with ever green grass feed normally used for lawn - poppies are pretty

This week I'll transplant a gooseberry bush, from the back to the front. Got to warm up some compost for my fuchsia cuttings.
