Hello again Gardengirl image  Your original seedlings thread is a favourite of mine. I found it so helpful when I first joined the forum.

I've come on in leaps and bounds since then, I can now post links, after some IT help from aymimage

    The original from 2015..........

Must not start any annuals early either! Plus I haven't gotten round to clearing the rest of the beech leaves up to +40 black sacks of them now. It's just they are wet and rotting the grass underneath so I know they'll be a fair few patches to reseed in Spring. I also need to get manure from the farm when they have more free stock! image

No you can't have too many blackberries. I've taken cuttings of blackcurrant and loganberry, but I don't know where I'm going to put them.image

  • Send the blackberry my way if thornless

Went and had a look in Homebase some fruit trees in the sale £12 are quite tall though, bit of painting today but will be more for January

Horse manure made me think about it and how much I have will it be enough

My small to do list for January:

Planting daffodils and gladiolus and ranunculus
Sterilising compost in Microwave and adding it to plants
    More of deadheading, pruning, staking
Looking for more , interesting chrysanthemum
    Harvesting strawberries.
Starting seeds of gulmohar , amaltas (a.K.a. Golden shower) and kachnar trees.
    Getting a plum tree
Sitting back and enjoying the hard work of October and November.

I'm sure you've all factored in the fact that most apples sold in UK are grafted onto rootstocks to restrict height.

If you take cuttings / layer plants they can become very big trees , pretty quickly.

    Just a thought. image

    Thanks, Aym.

Yes, I love them, especially golden shower cuz it's kinda like my namesake, known as 'vishu' tree in malayali.

I want to try to make bonsai out of them. I don't have biggarden, sadly............

  • Planning on getting all my chilli seeds sown either today or Tomorrow plus lobelia seeds....quite a lot of things to be done in the garden but I will do that next week once hubby goes on a course...(he tries to help with the turning over of my wee plots but he doesnt break it up)?
