Morning all/afties Pat - hope you're keeping well and it's not too hot. I haven't caught up with the jigsaws yet since I did the pipit ones, but I'll have a go later if possible image

Dark here but still mild. Most peculiar. Hope the weather is half decent for the weekend so that I can get out and test my new walking poles. They came yesterday but I was so excited about the nuthatch I almost forgot about them. I'm easily pleased...image

Lovely to hear that so many others have nuthatches visiting.

I'll try and catch up with the PMs too, now that I'm getting a bit quicker at this no mouse malarkey.

Better go and get my coat on and get to work. Hope everyone has a good day  image

Morning, dry and mild but a definite improvement on the last couple of days.

  • Morning all! I've been very rude and neglectful after your lovely welcome a few weeks back, but I've had a nasty bout of the blues plus more work than I can reasonably cope with. Actually, still got more work than I can cope with, so I'd better get on, just wanted to check in with you, say hi, and I hope you've all got nicer mornings than I have here in North Devon - raining and so dark we've still got lights on indoors :( Hubby says I should get one of those daylight sunshine bulb thingies...

  • G'day Pat image  Hello the rest of youimage and good to see you Thankthecat image  Sorry to hear about the blues ... seem to strike quite a few people this time of year ... I'd try the SAD light if I were you ... what've you got to lose?  I know several people who find them helpful, and if you don't you can always sell it on Ebay image  It's good to be busy tho' ... being self employed can be precarious ...

Going to listen to R4 now, Melvin Bragg is talking about Harriet Martineau - one of Norwich's famous daughters of the first half of the 19C commemorated in many place names in the city - quite an amazing woman for those times ... she'd be seen as a really high achiever even nowadays.

    Hi all.

Sleep seems a different memory and now have the added annoyance of the work men digging up our lane.

I have to admit I tried increasing the dose of sleeping tablets last night, as I have started to get really grumpy.

Can fully endorse the light box, my psychiatrist recommended it to me years ago, I was thoroughly sceptical, I may have said witch craft, or similar, but I think it works. I have it on when I am sitting in front of the computer in the morning.

    Morning all.

I hope the rain stops, the sun comes out and you feel better Thank the Cat. Even Monty Don gets the winter blues.

Just been reading about Harriet Martineau, an interesting woman.

This afternoon a friend is coming to help me make bunches of evergreens with red ribbons to decorate the Abbey for Sunday's Carol Service. Luckily it's not raining. Quite sunny at the moment. We'll do it in the kitchen so I must tidy up a bit, work surfaces are a bit cluttered.image

Hello.  A lovely start to the day but I haven't been out yet.  Stayed upstairs communing with kittens who are definitely better for being steamed and full of beans.   OH has taken the dogs out for walkies so they have the run of downstairs in peace at the mo.   Rasta doggy is "in love" and doesn't understand why lying on her belly with her ears pricked, eyes focused and tail wagging doesn't get her any new feline playmates.

I am waiting for our lawnmower to be delivered from servicing and repair and then will be outside planting bulbs and supervising OH.  he wants to cut the grass where the naturalised cyclamen are now in full leaf so hands and mowers off.

Have fun with the decs Busy.   Wonky - that sounds appalling but you seem to manage it all sensibly.  Have to wonder why you should have to though.

Everyone else - enjoy whatever you're doing.

  • A load of pickling onions are now peeled and sitting in salt.  I know I'm a bit late doing them, and as I want them for Christmas and the New Year leftovers, I've quartered the biggest ones and halved the medium ones.  Now I need to pop down to the SM for cheap honey - it'd be a shame  to use the lovely local stuff in the vinegar.

    Anyone need anything?
