Nice photos Peter. You did well to get enough light in the rooms to show everything. Sad to see such a large space not being used, but I assume heating would be difficult in those old houses.
Ah! I should have thought of that. I'm afraid I only use an iPhone or iPad, so my photos are really only snapshots but good enough for various things around the garden.
Are you in the U.K.? I'm in Australia, so my times vary from their time by 11 hours.
Where are they? I know there is a group taking photographs of derelict steel and cutlery works around Sheffield. Very sad to see what were busy places, standing abandoned.
Went to visit my son recently. We did some Christmas shopping in Auxerre. Pretty old town. Also went for a walk around his village. Photo is of a lavoir where the ladies did their washing long ago. I dread to think how it was washing bedding in winter in freezing water and carrying a heavy, sodden load home. Maybe they didn't change the sheets in winter!
Where is Fairygirl and her lovely photos?
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
My hand has been giving me bother so I'm having to footle around with the keypad thingy instead of a mouse. Makes me a bit slow though...or slower than usual...
Gorgeous pic. I love architecture of all kinds, but especially the brickwork of belltowers and churches in Italy (in particular) France and Spain etc. The lamps as well. I think they're works of art
For various reasons I haven't been walking for over a month. I missed all the lovely snow and alpine weather to go with it at the end of November, but I was out on Sunday on Beinn an Lochain. A hill I've done many times, but it's very handy as it's only an hour or so away, and very, very enjoyable as a short outing
Nice bit of sunrise en route along Loch Lomond
A nice icy pool about half way up
The hills all looked like they'd had a tiny sprinkling of fresh snow, but it was just the heavily rimed grass
The summit 'cone'
the view back to the summit from the south top
looking south west to Ben Donich from the south top
Loch Fyne from the south top
and The Cobbler and a few of the Arrochar/Crianlarich hills from near the summit
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Peter....interesting and thought provoking pics of "dereliction". Makes one wonder about all the history behind them.

Lovely clock tower BL.
Doing the washing would be quite a social occasion, a bit like the old "steamies in Glasgow......communal wash houses.
Busy-Lizzie,
Great picture, that's the architecture I fancy. I would love to live with all that history around me.
I'm here BL.
