Noughts and crosses anyone? I am assuming that you live near a big airport Liri? It's a wonder that there aren't more collisions up there although I realize there is probably a good few miles between each trail, and at differing altitudes too.
2 airports reasonably close, GD - Leeds Bradford on the left, Manchester on the right. Not under the flight path of either, luckily, so no aircraft noise. Those trails are very high, in the main - and they hung around yesterday because it was pretty well windless. Not a sight our great grandparents would recognise...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
And there was me thinking you lived somewhere exotic with that beautiful blue sky Liri - it does look quite warm and calm - are those the Pennines in the distance, or is my geography as hopeless as my spelling?
No problem with your geography, GD. I'm in Calderdale in the middle of the Pennines - a little town called Todmorden, equidistant from Rochdale, Halifax and Burnley. Sounds grim and industrial but is actually lovely - something of an undiscovered gem... We're in Yorkshire, just, though the county boundary with Lancashire used to run through the centre of the town hall so the Gentry could have jurisdiction over both counties, and we still have a Lancashire postcode.

I have never travelled through your Todmorden Liri, but from the picture the area does look quite beautiful (especially on such a lovely sunny day). I imagine you get quite a bit of rain - but that can be a blessing some times. My OH was born in Manchester and my mother was from Yorkshire, so I have spent holidays in both areas, although mostly East Yorkshire. In fact my husband once took me camping in a place called Accrington. We were perched on the side of a lovely green hill, but the view......COOLING TOWERS! Least said the better - I forgave him eventually.
Your postcode would be very confusing for anyone who didn't know the history of the county boundary line - I am surprised but pleased that this has not been tampered with by officialdom.
For some strange reason this little devil reminds me of Donald J Trump. I was surprised to see a pair of muntjac wandering down my drive at noon yesterday but I only managed to photograph the male as he rummaged for rotting windfall apples. Looks like I will need more fencing protection for the few vulnerable plants we have left.
I missed your lovely pic Liri. The patterns are great
I realised a while ago that we don't look 'up' often enough. Being back on the hills the last couple of years has brought it home to me and I now do quite a bit of it!
steephill - I think you're right. A definite 'whiff of Trump' - if you catch my drift....
and stop making up your own jokes.....
Poor thing! It can't even save for the surgery
They actually have a look of boar about them. I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh. I don't think we get them up here. It's mostly red or roe deer I see.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
The only deer I see around here is my husband and even that is questionable at times.......
Yes certainly a look of Donald Trump about the beast steephill, poor creature, at least it didn't have the hounds braying at it's ankles.
This picture is a pitiful site. It is an old disused chimney and boiler house on a derelict greenhouse tomato growing site. Every greenhouse site had one of these chimneys when coal was used to heat the greenhouses.

Interesting patterns in the sky yesterday.

That would do me fine as a little house to live in GD
As you say, it's a pity to see buildings become so delapidated very easily. It's a lovely chimney too.
It's ok - I won't tell your hubby you said that
