It was taken in early September 2015, aym - up north where I holidayed as a child. I took my two girls there for a visit. Oldest daughter is the one on the right in the pic with me.  It was the only decent spell of weather we got all summer!  image

Can't beat a bit of stone skimming - even when the loch's frozen...image

Some people really take their fly fishing seriously.

Great photos again,  Johnny - I can't make up my mind about the deer. He's either very determined or very stupid!  image

Are anglers bonkers do you think? image

I like a minimalist, snowy landscape too  Iamweedy - they make great photos. This was last February on a litle Corbett in Glen Fruin, near Loch Lomond. It was a great day   image

    Were you holidaying in Iceland?

We've had very little snow this winter on the hills. It arrives and then turns weirdly mild and disappears again  image

I remember doing the Black Mount hills (just south of Glencoe) in April some years ago, and the final section of Stob Ghabhar has a line of old fence posts which only had the tops showing, so we were walking on those  image

Amazing snowy pics, folks.  Love the sculptured effect you get from the wind, Fairy.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Yes, agree, those snowy scenes are magical and the drifts do look like the tide coming in with frothy foam - a bit like the icing on my Christmas cakes!

I always wanted to visit the Rockies Johnny, so thanks for bringing them into my office on your lovely pictures.

*Fairygirl*  Yes I went on a Geology  trip.

I love your  wind or wave patterns.

This was at Crosby beach. The Anthony Gormley "Another Place"  installation. In December light. I

It is a very atomospheric place with those statues staring out to sea.

Sorry about typos I can't re edit. By the time I took this any interesting light had gone and the rain had started coming in.

  • Hello Fairygirl,

I never caught sight of a fly fisherman in the Bow River on a January day before.

The deer? Well I think they're just happy beasts. There was a herd of eight there. But hundreds live their lives along our river within the city.
