To be honest Liri - it's only when you're not moving that it's an issue,  and it's definitely preferable to wet conditions any day!

I took a self timed shot on the 'prow'.  Someone had wedged a metal hook into a crack in a rock, so I wedged the camera behind it. Didn't want that disappearing over the edge in the wind   image

    Unfortunately, it slipped a bit....image

Glad you enjoyed the snowy pix  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Nice selfie, Fairy.  The extra "angle" makes it look as if you're on the point of setting off downwards...  image

Did you see Countryfile earlier this evening?  Ellie Harrison (the blonde one) was looking at wildlife in the Caledonian pine forest, and there was also an item about a guy making wonderful hand-crafted wooden skis in the highlands.

Saw a little of it Liri - mainly the bit with the hares, and I really enjoyed the part about the Guernseys. I might download it though  image

Downwards was behind me and to the right -  going in that direction it would have been a bit steep. Would definitely have needed the crampons on.... image

The snow had also balled up under my boots. I wondered why I couldn't walk properly after setting the camera! image image

  • Ah - now I see how it's tilted...  you're not actually about to fall over onto your nose...  image

Well, let's see if I can post 3 photos from last November.  If I can, this is a major advance, & I think will mean that all the photos on my phone are now accessible.

    image

That looks a little fuzzy, but maybe it'll be ok when enlarged... it's the view from our cottage skylight on a frosty morning.

    Seaweed comes in lovely colours!

This hawthorn is known by my family as the "twisted stunty thing" - that's a quote from some spoof article on tree identification, I think - and hasn't changed significantly in the last 30 years.  Very restful.  image

  • Yes, some lovely photos, stunning views and thanks for sharing them with us, I love this site for the variety and the interest (or nosiness) to see where other forum users live.

Attaching a couple of picturesimageimage, not so much of the beach, but to show how the erosion caused by all the storms and high tides we have experienced over the past few years. The wall was built by the Germans to keep the enemy out (i.e. the English Army/Navy). The wall has stood well for 60 + years but just in the past 2 or 3 years has started to crack and disintegrate quite dramatically. The wall is mostly built of concrete.

I was going to say we're burying our heads in the sand about erosion, GD - but perhaps that's not the most appropriate phrase....image

Will they address that, or is it too big  (and expensive) a job?

Lovely Liri. Glad you've got the phone camera going now - there'll be no stopping you!

Some arty seaweed shots would be good  image

No - for once, I wasn't about to go on my ch*ff. That usually happens when I'm nearer the car....

Just as well - the drop (where the snow stops) is fairly vertical. Aach - I'd have stopped when I hit a boulder. Or a goat!  image

  • I like the grooved tree trunk, DHR.  image

    You requested seaweed, Fairy?

...not terribly artistic, but the hoar frost was lovely:

Another view of the "twisted stunty thing" - no idea how it got that intricate shape!

  • What a cute chap, I love the hair cut too, and as for that prehistoric tree trunk - I would love that in my garden.

The erosion on the beach problem is too expensive to repair Fairygirl, and previous to WWII there wasn't a wall there at all(so I have been told), The barrier was just sand dunes and maron grass to defend the sea from the land, so they (the island bosses) have decided to let nature return it back to how it was formerly. The beach shop that you can see just above the damaged wall will eventually crumble too.
