I had a lovely half day though Joyce, and the bumslide certainly made up for the early rain and the 'view preventing' louring sky!
It was beautiful driving back out, but I couldn't really have got pix as the best view was looking behind into the setting sun. It's a pity as it was superb. I went the longer way instead of over the bridge of Balgie route, which was the way I went in. LochTay was looking splendid too
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Don't think there'll be a lot of snow left by June unfortunately - although there's more forecast for later this week. There was still quite a bit on many hills in June last year though, in eastern and northern corries

Health and safety let loose on hills - can you imagine scroggin?
Sounds like great fun!
Yes - in 2015 there was snow lying right through the year on many hills. The winter lingered a good while. I was on a hill in Drumochter in July 2015 and there was still visible snow on the surrounding hills.

Bum sliding was nearly the end of me many years ago in the Cairngorms. We set up a 2 man "snow canoe" (large tough plastic sheet) and started poling with our paddles(ice axes) down a gentle slope singing the Banana Boat song as we went along. Of course the gentle slope soon got a lot steeper and we found ourselves hurtling down a steep icy slope. By the time we had both bailed out and deployed ice axes I was left hanging on a near vertical ice slope and couldn't get a toe hold to allow me to cut steps to get off the slope. Every time I eased the ice axe out I started sliding again.
My mate had bailed a fraction earlier onto softer snow and thankfully was able skirt the ice then cut his way across to make that crucial first toe hold for me and we both got off there safely. The skiers way below us would have been taken out like 9 pins if I had fallen, I reckon I would have hit terminal velocity on the way down. In both senses of the word!
Just as well your mate was able to get across. It's not a nice feeling when you can't get a toe in to cut steps.
Did it put you off though....
No danger of me hitting too high a speed on Sunday - snow was too soft and the banks of snow were too short! Even if I had - I'd have stopped when I reached the rocks and the landrover track further down...

It didn't put us off and I was able to return the favour shortly afterwards on Ben More (Crianlarich version) when he slipped off a ridge having just put away his ice axe. I jumped after him with mine still in hand and was able to stop both of us before a nasty cliff edge. The funny thing is I have a healthy dose of vertigo! Still love the hills though and love seeing your shots of the local hills of my youth. Keep them coming!

Is that why you moved to Surrey, steephill?

No wonder it was slow getting fuel today!
