Hi Joyce. Yes, the Streptocarpus is actually more purple that the photo, but when I painted it, years ago, it was the most difficult colour to mix that I've ever tried. I ended up writing down how I mixed it, in case I ever needed to have another go at it. I've had the plant since 1987. It was an exercise on learning to propagate plants from leaf cuttings, when I was a student. I never ever discovered the species name, but I just call it Streptocarpus sp.
ive since sold that painting, but still make cards and sell them.
I love your art work too - it would be great if you could create more.
Liri - I thought that was your train route. The road runs alongside the railway (or the other way round!) so that bit between Tarbet and Arrochar is one I'm very familiar with. There's part of the Loch Lomond section where you pass a viaduct ( takes you into Loch Sloy and the dam there) and that's where the access is to a couple of the Arrochar hills which you do from that side. The view from the train will be quite different view from the one from the road
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, one difference in the view is that you're quite a bit higher than the road most of the time. Another is that you don't have to watch out for approaching lorries... It's gorgeous when the bluebells are out. And when it snows... in fact, every time I travel...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Afternoon sun on our valley. The Poplars are already starting to turn brown.
Pat, the polars, with the sun on them, look as though they are alight. Streps have a lovely depth of colour.

You are such a talented botanical artist Pat. Picture is beautiful
Thanks Joyce. I haven't done any for a while. I'm planning on getting back into it if I can.
Lovely autumn colours against the deep blue sky Pat. And beautiful bluebells Scroggin
The HRH cloud made me go a bit teary too - but what a lovely, comforting thing to see
Lovely pix Pat, and that cloud....
