Thats ok, Lantana, sometimes I don't believe what I am seeing. Frogfish are the funniest, they look like sponges usually when they are not moving, but then they waddle along on fins that look like frog feet. A lot of things are so well disguised, you really have to have your eye in to see them.
I've a little visitor in my mini GH on the front veranda.
We kept hearing a frog croaking last night and couldn't work out how there would be one out in the garden when it's been so dry. Obviously this little one has found a cosy spot. Plenty of insects to catch and in a site that's kept watered. My lettuce harvesting might need a bit of care.
Unfortunately not. The bird centre rescued mainly abandoned chicks and then fed them up. Frigate birds coming to be fed was quite a sight. The busted wing would heal well enough for a bird to fly, but would not survive the impact as they hit the water to take fish, so the bird had a sad end. My finger had plaster on for two weeks. Frigate birds are somewhat prehistoric. The top photo is of a Christmas Island frigate birdchick. Less than 1500 breeding pairs left. Critically endangered. Fully grown, with seven foot wing span, they look like pterodactyls circling over the jungle in Jurassic park. The middle chick and the rescued bird were Abbott's boobies, thought to be less than 6000in the wild, also critically endangered.

What I didn't realise is that Mum is there as well in the next pot of lettuces. We might have to wait a while before I plant them out in the garden.
.
today has been unbearably hot outside and there is a storm predicted. time will tell.
Pat - what a lovely discovery
Fidget - the second picture shows that sharp pointed beak very clearly. Nasty!

Good frogs in the lettuce, pat. Nice to have a bit of natural pest control.
That's sad about the bird Fidget. Not much you can do about it
If we had left it struggling, a shark or giant trevally would have eaten it. Not sure which end would be worse
bunch of random stuff (mostly exploring old buildings )
As said, random locations
