Pat, I think your hostess skills are too good and are perhaps taken advantage of.

Hosta, glad to hear you made a positive from a negative. image

Clari, I think you are amazing- on every level, I do hope you are appreciated at home and work. image

I am going to have a very relaxing evening, wine and chocolate and apple pie & custard, not necessarily in that order, but pj's on, snuggly blanket and hopefully uninterrupted watching of GBBO final - hoping it's Andrew but probably Candice. image

Tomorrow night be a tricky day, all sorts of issues to deal with but for tonight I'm shu

Evening all. Looking forward to Bake Off too. Think it'll be close - any one of them could be a winner.

How lovely Yvie. Hope you can stay image  image

You'd think these scammers would have given up trying by now wouldn't you? Is there anyone left in the country that they've not phoned? image

Wonderful heavy, laden sky over us earlier, with the pale clear sky below. Rain didn't come to anything but I think we're getting more overnight. It was certainly milder today - got into double figures.

Hope more progress happens quickly obelixx - you seem to have a lot to deal with. Clari too - but you'll both get there. I have every confidence in you  image

Dinner on - feeling a bit peckish now. Could have done with a cake for watching B. Off later....image

My pleasure DD.  I'm glad Charlie is pleased.  Had to go back another day and get a pack for OH when he saw what yours contained and he now has the route map and poster of sailors and boats up on the office wall.

I was supposed to spend this pm sorting out the bathroom now we have a functioning basin and dry cupboard below but, after an early start and a busy morning and a long, slow shop and then exciting walkies with doggies (beef calf loose in the lane with dogs off lead but all OK) I ended up needing a snoozle on the sofa.    Very cosy with a large Labrador and a medium terrier snuggling up too.

Time for dinner then. Bake Off.

Lots of ladybirds starting to gather here too and yes, the harlequins do eat the smaller natives.

Well done Hosta.  No cheap bulbs found here yet.  Opticians' reading glasses are much more sturdily made than the cheap ones which I find fall apart or loose grip after a while but I keep mislaying mine so stick with the cheap ones and have several pairs all over the house and in the car.

I do the same with those little glasses too.

Forgot to say - those black ladybirds sound like the Harlequin ones fidget. They seem to be quite widespread, although I haven't seen any here.

I've collapsed on the sofa, stuffed to the gills with prawn curry, rice, dhall, pappadums and chapatis. OH is washing up then we'll watch Bake Off.  Enjoy folks .........
