Anyone done any gardening today - version 3

  • Like most children I grew a sycamore tree from the aeroplane seeds of the tree - they used to seed all over our old garden. My sister and brother's sycamore saplings are now mature trees, mine was "removed" when we moved - never to be seen again.

The seeds can be a nuisance but as you have said Joyce, the mower makes short work of them.

Planted a redcurrant bush, it's very good and long roots on it.

Garden is absolutely sodden, any parts of the lawn I walk on are just mud, infact Soft Rush [Juncus] has appeared in my front lawn, rain levels this spring are worst I have ever known. Ony gardening done this winter have been pruning fruit bushes.

Hello , just cone in for coffee break , sunny and blue sky's but an icy wind , been cutting wood with chain saw

Will go out and do some proper gardening this afternoon image

Invicta sorry to hear about garden being sodden

  • Very sunny here too GWRS, luckily no icy wind - it is a glorious day.  Sowed my first Cherry tomato seeds free from GW last month.  Just 8 seeds so far, more next week or two.

My first cucumber seedlings are pushing through - Burpless and Bolt Hardy, both new varieties for me to try.

Deadheaded even more daffodils, and some other varieties are just opening up.  Two tulips in flower already.

Watered all the pots and troughs and trays we brought from our Belgian garden and then I've spent 2 hours going round on the mower taming grass that has been untended for over 3 years except for when the farmer next door came with a real tractor and mowed it like hay for the estate agent's photos and 2 sheep since then.   Very lumpy and bumpy and full of weeds and bits of old tree stump and root.  Getting easier tho.

Perishing cold now as the wind is getting up and bringing tomorrow's storms and clouds with it.

Sorry for all those snow bound or rain sodden.   Hope it passes soon.

Brrrrr  Peter.  Not very spring like for you today ❄❄❄

It was bright and breezy here, I had duvets laundered and out on the line this morning (not just the covers)

Gardening image. I sowed some herb seeds.  Does that count? image
