  • I've been off work all week and have barely been in the garden at all, unusually for me.

Did some tiresome householdly chores that have been on the to do list for sometime and I also used up a few days by being ill.image

Had a few plant deliveries this week but have only planted a few. The rest are stood in their places on the soil or are in a 'pending' huddle.

Had to anti-couch a border I let get out of hand and move out some verbena b that had ended up right at the front adding to the unkempt look.

Gathered in old plant and seed labels from where they had become scattered and potted up a few clovers I think I might need for my 'lotment. Haven't heard from them since accepting the plot, wonder if they've realised I'm a fraud and had previously taken myself off the listimage Hope not, I've already ordered some fruit plants despite not having been given a key... Best hasty than never, I always sayimage

Were you on holiday Victoria? Not ill, I hope.

OH braved the cold yesterday and took down the bean poles.

Much warmer today, 14° this afternoon. Been in the veg garden since we came home from the Christmas fair. Weeded an area where I've heaped 7 barrows of horse manure.  Had to stop because it's getting dark.

OH has mended the GH window which has been wonky for years, it's polycarbonate and it blew off recently.

  • Potted some bare root peonies which arrived on Friday.  They don't look up to much much so will need growing on for a few years I think.  Moved some potted azeleas into the cold gh for protection and did a bit of weeding - those blummin' willowherb are popping up everywhere as usual!  Also sowed some clematis seeds I got from a well known member into pots on the heated bench which is set to 10C. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Hi BL, off work, but not away on holiday fortunately. I'd just about shaken off a cough/cold and then got ill again. I think it was my own fault, I went for a run on a particularly cold day and I think it just hit my lungs.

Thanks for asking - very kind of youimage

  • OH dug a few rows in the veg patch today - ready to spread our compost on top of the soil over the coming weeks, then he will fork it into the soil.  I had a day off from the garden - but still managed to

do some watering and clean some mucky plant pots.

  • Did some indoor gardening today. Planted oriental poppy, begonia, lavender and geranium seeds.imageimage

The jar in the top left has Taiwan moss growing out. I glue it to rocks and driftwood in my fish tanks.
