Hope your storm is passing now Yvie - sounds scary! Hopefully your hubby hadn't actually started mowing when the heavens opened. And congrats on keeping your cool over the Nanna confusion...
Forecast this morning said dry and hot. Now it says wet and hot for most of the rest of today, but luckily I've been trying to get indoor stuff done this afternoon so the rain hasn't been a problem.
Hard luck re gate latch, Fairy... I've got some hairy string if you need to tie it shut until the rain stops...
Combovers. Yuk. What's wrong with being bald? GWRS, my OH also has a range of hats to cover his "pink hair" and protect him from sun, rain, cold etc.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hairy string Liri - reminds me of opening bales of hay and straw. It was wonderful stuff
I'm using the belt from my walking trousers....
There's a bottom kick bolt on it anyway so it's not flapping about too much
What a horrible day you had Yvie. I love a good thunderstorm but we don't get them too often here. Not enough high temps to get that pressure built up. I can imagine that was quite intense though. What a pain having to go back home. Ooh err missus...
Meant to say - obelixx, that cordial sounds like the stuff we used to get at 'that celebration at the end of the year' when we were children. No idea who made it but it was like swallowing concentrated blackcurrants. I can still remember how wonderful it was! Bet yours tastes fabulous.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
They are Joyce but they're not gardeners so I'm replanting stuff I know will survive neglect and shall be taking special treasures with me. 2 trucks then.
Yvie - sympathy. Maybe a rota agreed in advance or, like Joyce says, a call?
Evening folks, Yvie, bit jealous of your storm really, been so very hot here, no fun to work in and I don't have the energy to water the garden! sounds like a situation well handled with the gparents!
Chicky your pictures look gorgeous, sounds like a lovely trip, glad you enjoyed it and are back home safely, sure your garden has missed you!
I've read back but there's so much to take in I'm going to get it all muddled if I try!
Really should be posting on the "shame" thread as my garden is so neglected due to working six days a week and never having a minute! I have been redesigning plants to move for 'dig up what I've planted wrong' season
Dove hope the shoulder feels better soon, I know OH will get any daft ideas from your head if you try to do any chores or activities beyond the realms of sensibleness!
Greetings to everyone and apologies for having the memory of a fish

Hello all.
Hope your storm is passing now Yvie - sounds scary! Hopefully your hubby hadn't actually started mowing when the heavens opened. And congrats on keeping your cool over the Nanna confusion...

Back door of the garage has been held closed with one of OH's ties for over a year. . . It will get sorted....
Friend has such a glut of cooking apples that she made apple curd. . . nice and tangy.
Just drizzle here since lunchtime but still muggy.
I don't like thunderstorms. . . want to hide under something
Yvie, maybe a phone call to other G'parents the night before Nanna duty would prevent any more wasted 50 mile journeys.
Obelixx - the new occupiers are very fortunate in having a garden all ready for them and their chicks.

Ties - I was googling about for patchwork classes near the new house and found a patchwork Expo to coincide with the departure of the Vendée Globe round the world yacht race. One of the workshops is by a woman who makes arty wall hangings with silk ties - https://www.google.be/search?q=caroline+regnaut&biw=1600&bih=775&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwjJxqqm7ozPAhUDPxoKHXt8DCEQsAQIHg
Winter crafties anyone?
Has anyone heard from Panda or Kef recently?
I thought KEF might be on holiday fidget -she hasn't posted on here for a while though
Assume Panda is busy with her wedding plans....

Evening all. Home from the coal face.
Warm still but no real sun all day long with the odd heavy downpour thrown in for good measure.
