I'm usually fairly happy driving through water, having lived almost all my life in very rural areas - but the one drawback to having a convertible is that all the electrics to the back of the car travel along the floor rather than in the roof !!!
We usually get several flocks of geese fly over at this time of year but I've not heard any yet - will keep my ears open - I love to see and hear them - I always used to tell Pa - now I'll have to tell you lot
Enjoy the gardens Chicky
Keep your feet dry Hosta
Sky's suddenly turned grey all over ... I might not have to water the lawn ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Lovely sunny start again and the garden looks fab from my perch on the sofa. Doesn't do to get too close tho as I haven't weeded or dead headed for ages and the bloody bindweed is spreading alarmingly in new places well away from the original infestation. How does that work? Not fair.
Carrying on with packing today - clothes and the last bits of attic. Have the new owners coming round at 2ish for a central heating driving lesson and another chappy coming to take away stuff we don't want but which can probably be sold for charity.
Clari - enjoy your walk. I hope you're wearing a mask when you bash plaster.
Chicky - enjoy Picton. We did.
We have Egyptian geese thriving here and Canada geese that do seasonal fly pasts. There's a large flock of them parked in the paddock across the road and they've been doing a morning and evening fly past for a few days now. We had 3 large white egrets in the back field the other day - very early so maybe hiding from those storms that went north and south but passed us by and left us dry?
Just had a robin in the living room. Much panicking as I went round opening windows he couldn't see he could escape through. Talk about bird brain! Droppings on the window sills and a very large, top heavy ficus benjamina tumbly tumbly in the breeze. Wonderful.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Rain has gone off at last - but a lot of dark clouds still around. I put a paint roller and tray outside the back door while I made dinner last night. There was an inch of water in it a couple of hours later.
Think you're to get a fair bit of rain your way in the next day or so Dove. That dried up lawn will soon be an emerald sward....
Glad you're getting some normal life DD. Big changes but lots to look forward to
Daughter asked me yesterday if I was walking today, as she wanted to take me out for lunch. Couldn't say no could I? It lets me get on here again anyway.
Home straight now obelixx...literally! I moved so many times in a few years that I felt I could pack boxes with my eyes shut. It's amazing how it makes you focus on what's important. This is the longest I've been anywhere for quite a while. I still feel slightly restless, but doing the 'stension has changed things slightly. I wish you all the best in your new home and hope you have lots of happy years there.
I heard that too Hosta. Definitely wouldn't watch it now. Take your water wings with you today - just in case
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
First coffee going down, not a great nights sleep, dozed off around 5am and neighbours woke me by 9 am the back wasn't allowing me to get comfortable but feel much improved this morning!
Actually going to attempt gentle pottering in the garden today, between predicted rain clouds!
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, will read and catch up when more coffee goes down!
Thought you were typing with a deeper voice Dove. Wonky, glad to hear there's some improvement with the back but be careful. Gentle stretches and all that.
Fairy how lovely of fairylet to take you out for lunch. Enjoy
DD oh my goodness. A marathon. It's good to know that you can relax (if only for an hour or so) and that you have a friendly bank manager. Hope that goes well.
Obelixx I hope the rain arrives for you to get your plants up and potted. The visiting robin was not exactly what you needed. All your clearing out had me thinking about how much needless stuff we have around so - I tidied a drawer.
Not been around much the last few days as I am a terrible wimp and was worried about a 'procedure' at the hospital and couldn't think about much else. All over and done with now. Phew.
At least it's a much better day today, so far, and I may get a bit more deadheading done and take down the sweet peas.
Hi everyone. I'm late on today because I was kept awake a lot last night with chest pain . I kept laying there thinking that's all I'd be doing it I went into Cas, so I persevered and eventually nodded off about 3am, I think. Hubby couldn't decide whether to stay in his night clothes or get dressed again, made sure I had my Vita Brits and still uncomfortable and breathless, so rang the Hpsp to say I thoightbid better come in for them to check me out. She wanted to send an Ambulance because she could hear how breathless I was, but I said Hubby was waiting to being me in. I had visions of waiting for the ambulance getting lost trying to find our place and me waiting and not feeling too good.
Anyway, after the usual hook up to lots of wires, chest x-ray, vampire stuff, horrible tasting medicine, and nodding off on the hard bed, they eventually decided this afternoon that everything was OK. Heart good, X-ray clear, blood no enzymes, etc. they called Hubby to come back and get me. He'd only just got home with son after shopping in town and was making pastry for something son was planning for dinner.(leek, chicken and potato pies). So, I've been lazing on the lounge with HRH and colouring in. Still tired after my rotten night. My appointment with my Dr is tomorrow afternoon, so that might be interesting, Son suggested the wood heater might be the underlying cause of my shortness of breath, this is the second chest x-ray since June. It'll be interesting to see if things improve when the weather warms up and we stop lighting the fire.
on a brighter note, having read back, and making notes I can respond for a change.
Yvie, I'm glad you Mum is a bit happier and your Weight Watchers is working. Been there and done that.
Dove, love the Begonia. Really lovely colour with the sun on it.
Obelixx, it's good to keep up with your progress and Reggie looks to be "with it" about fitting in with the changes. Laughed about the spiders. - a memory of son when he was younger - paranoid!
Joyce, I can relate to the hibernation idea.
Fairy, your decorating sounds as if it's getting along well.
Clari, hope the workman work out ok.
thats it. Sorry I've missed some, but enough is enough.

Morning all.
Sorry not read back, but hope you are all well.
Very overcast here this morning, but still so warm. Hoping for more sunshine again this week.
Gets dark so early now and looking quite autumnal out there this morning.
Must get my winter plants for tubs etc.
Lazy Sunday for us I think. Had a very busy week decorating and Nanna duties.
Have a lovely day everyone, take care.
SYL xx
Morning all.
. .
Dry and bright here until. . . . ? Hoping for a few hours before more wind and rain.
A colleague used to prattle on about equinoxial gales. . . . . seems he was correct.

Hello the rest of you
If I seem different it's 'cos I'm on OH's laptop - mine has decided it needs to reconfigure stuff now, and is taking all morning about it
