What a glorious day for us here in the north, I think we will all be making the most of it.
I have pruned a hundred lavender plants, cut down the iris and removed a huge patch of creeping buttercu, I dare say it will pop up again tomorrow.
harvest this year is some good some not so good. A plum tomato I haven't tried before is yielding great loads, cucumber good too,( Dove I admire your your chutney but I am making gin!) the currants have all been good, excellent potatoes, wild rocket gone mad and herb garden rewarding. Onions look good
Not so good were the peppers, outdoor tomatoes and the peas were dreadful. Just waiting for the apples and the blackberries are almost there. It will be a race between me and the birds!
Pat thanks for confirming what I thought. I tried to post using my phone but it didn't go through so sorry for delay.
hope everyone is enjoying their Sat

(She's not my wife actually, partly because we've both done that before and don't want to do it again, and partly because she lives in Belgium!)
Decided to come back to the library after an 'all day breakfast' and a bit of shopping (in which chocolate featured prominently) as it'll be damp and miserable in the boat.
Back to jam & chutney - someone's given me an aluminium preserving pan, which I've used just for the plum jam so far. If I use it extensively will I get aluminium poisoning or dementia? If the latter, will anyone notice?
Dove, I dug up the Aucuba and Verdun, I dug up a bamboo( came out nicely with just a border spade even though it's been there longer than us ( 5 years ) )
Making lots of space for new planting once I get the slate chippings and dreaded membrane removed.
First sweetcorn of the season under the grill as we speak. Fingers crossed.
Oh we got a box of cocodamol they put some local Anti inflammatory in at the time but he did need some the first night. He was also told to keep hand on a pillow hope this helps. Didnt mean to cause any alarm

Hi Lilyp. No probs. I wasn't expecting a reply. I'm in bed and my eyelids are slowly getting heavy. Nearly midnight. Catch you all Sunday.
Sleep well Pat, night night

No need to make gin Lily P, this http://norfolkgin.co.uk/ is made just down the road and OH sells it in the farm shop, so we get a staff discount

I forgot to mention the pak choi and chinese mustard - they've both been fab too.
Hope things get brighter for your wife very soon Steve

Hosta, which sweetcorn did you grow - we grew Swift this year - produced really early - we ate all ours in August, and they had a great flavour.
