The Met Office says there's only a 5% chance of rain but I can't see the hills opposite...  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Rain overnight, rain now, but I can see brightness in the distance.

Warming up nicely this arvo - sunny spells too.

Forecast says 20-25 tomorrow - lush.

My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Will be warm and sunny. Sunny until the 80% solar eclipse starts at around 10:30am. I'll head down to the river about 10am to feed birds and see if they react to the eclipse.

  • Let us know Johnny.  It will be interesting to note their reaction.

We had an eclipse here about 20 years ago, the gulls (we were on the beach headland) were quiet, there was an eerie feeling to the area as the day time sky turned darker.  Not for long though - we were soon back to normal.

It started off damp this morning, but has become warmer and the promise of a SUMMER day tomorrow.

August has been disappointing so far, some dull, damp and misty days interspersed with sunshine.

Been reading about the eclipse Johnny. I hear people have travelled long distances to gain a good view and some are throwing parties etc! I'm going to tune in to the NASA site to see that unfold (the eclipse, not the parties!).

I have my own solar eclipse here... under my garden parasol!

  • Well the 80% solar eclipse here in Calgary was like no eclipse at all. Didn't get noticeably darker, you couldn't see the moon covering the sun unless wearing special spectacles and the birds just carried on as usual. I took this picture at exactly 11:33am, when the moon was covering the sun.

Another hot and dry day here.
