I had to move one of the sweet pea pots in behind the bench the other day out of the wind - it had been toppled twice. The other one's much bigger and heavier so it's ok. Some of the other 'wispy' stuff is a bit battered though, but it'll have to get on with it. The little alliums are very horizontal ...the poor bees are struggling and the butterflies are hiding.
We can only dream of 25 Lantana.....I'd need the heating on for about an hour to get to that
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I've had to put the sprinkler on the Wilderness and the veg patch all looking very floppy and the wind is bashing things about and tearing leaves - they need a drink to perk them up so they're not so flimsy.
Topbird, the soaker hose has made a huge difference to the Clematis and honeysuckles on the fence at the back of the Shady Bank .
29.9C in the shade in my back garden at the moment Fairy
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Please don't make me cry Dove. I've a house full of drying dangling from every available sticky-out bit. Why do so many things say 'do not tumble dry'. Have a lovely time tonight.
Just collected Hubby from shop and he's harvested tomatoes for the first soup of the season.
Off to stack more stuff into the compost bins. I cleared a load of bullrush from the lake so I've been layering it up with grass clipping and some lovely oak shredding which were delivered yesterday.
I think I need to admit defeat and see a doctor about my back. It's broken anyway (5 places) but the pain level seems to be creeping ever higher and now I've siatica in both legs. Of course it would choose to do this on a Friday evening. Why do things always seem to kick in on a Friday?
His lordship is away tonight so I full intend on making full use of all the bed blankets, and pillows. No lounge means no where comfortable to sit so I can lay here and really design my redesign for the garden.
Great photos, DD. Good to see both you and Charlie looking positive. xx
Clari, yes- time for the doc!! Hope he can give you some help.
GWRS, nice pics - like the lower sculpture particularly, beautiful sinuous form.
Drat. TV went "phut" last night, no sound, picture all shifted to the right, divided into 3 vertical stripes in a pretty shade of blue. Think it's the digibox, can still watch DVDs on the telly. And OH is away so I doubt I can do much about it until he returns... other than fiddle with it, which I've already done, extensively. It was a 2nd hand box from a car boot sale about 15 years ago, so it probably doesn't owe us anything, but it looks as if it might be time for a re-think. Why do these things happen in the middle of the Olympics??
However, it's a long time since I watched "Pride & Prejudice". Definitely worth revisiting...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Oh Liri...
Are you sure the stripes weren't just the diving pool at Rio? Oh no - wrong colour....
The supermarkets are great for ( branded) TV deals. I got nice ones (20" or 24" I think) for the girls' bedrooms and they're excellent.
Nice sculptures GWRS. Saw them on the garden pic thread. Love the hares though
