Afternoon all, It's a bit dark here, we're expecting rain soon. In the middle of decorating the kitchen so everything is upside down. Just washed all the walls, tiles and paintwork down and now ready to start the ceiling. Can I just say I HATE DECORATING.
Hosta, yours is the only canna I have so if it succumbs at least there's nothing for it to infect.
Lantana - re pattypans - you can slice them and use them just like courgettes - but this one we stuffed with goats cheese and chopped sage leaves and baked it for lunch with some tomatoes - delicious. You can stuff the male flowers too, just like courgettes.
Re Bits & Pieces As some of you know my Pa lived until he was 96, passing away last year. For the last 6 years of his life he and Ma were in a care home and Pa needed a lot of personal care - initially he found this very upsetting - but the staff were so wonderful, tending to his needs with a sort of friendly professionalism which enabled him to retain his dignity and yet still have a laugh with them about the indignities of old age. He was so grateful to them for the way they looked after him, and I bless them every day. So thank you to all of you who've had to do 'stuff' for the gentlemen and have done it with kindness and to the best of your ability - even if you were perhaps a little unprepared for what may happen

Dove, I'm impressed with your squash, we call them marrows here. Don't know why.
Lantana, we have similar experiences, I see. Let's change the subject now, before I start blushing like a 16 year old again. I love Doves story about her father. How lucky to find such a good place for her parents. I remember her Mum's final time there.
Thank you to those who have sent their well wishes our way, the feedback from the doctor was as we expected, and we will have to see how things go day by day at the moment.
I had a nice walk in the park with my mum, it was a good chance for us to let off some steam and admire the planting in the more formal bedding area.
The rain still hasn't arrived here, although it's been quite overcast all day.
Hi All, hope you are all ok, you wouldn't believe how busy my day has been/still is so haven't had time to read back. Miss you all so much but hopefully very soon will be able to enjoy my morning read of all your posts.
Hosta, sorry your cannas are poorly.
Pdoc - pleaded to notice you posting but not time to read them all.
Yvie, I hate decorating too, but like the end results.
Dewdrops, sorry for your bad news.
Must go now, mountain of ironing and 15 people in the b&b tomorrow (some thank goodness) in their own tents. Not quite sure how that happened, the man was very charming about bringing a few friends???
I'm working here until the end of August, trying to move into my new home but awaiting bed delivery (Friday hopefully). Charlie knows everything, was a bit upset (obviously) at first, but has been a little star in taking all the changes on board and is being a little angel. He is going to help "mummy's dream come true with the tea shop and is going to be the best waiter in the world ever".
Must go, promise to try and keep up with you all, take care, have a good evening all.
P.S. Thanks for all the supportive messages yesterday.

Back to the salt mine for me today.... 158 emails one held good news though.... my decrepit work laptop is due to be upgraded so today I got to choose my new one
DD, glad things seem to be working out.... have missed a lot recently.... what will be happening to the BnB? Must be very sad to leave your lovely garden.
Off to see what else is occurring around the forum......
Wonky can give Charlie some tips - her first job when she was not a lot olduer than he is, was as waitress at the tea shop in the village where we lived - the owner and I were partners in a catering business and we lived just across the way from the tea shop.

Bed time again.

It's not easy Dewdrop but just take each day as it comes. It was good that you and your mum could have some pleasant time together.
Thanks Joyce
