Happy Anniversary to Wonky and her lovely Hub (as Dove would say!) Happy Anniversary to Hazel as well.
I hope you have a good time in Amsterdam, Hosta.
I think it is disgraceful that DD doesn't get the money from her B & B when she does all the work.
I have 3 of my children arriving this afternoon with their OHs, 6 grandchildren and 2 DIL's nieces. Will leave them a load of food as we booked ages ago to go to the theatre this evening, Shakespeare.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Been absent (busy) for a couple of days - what a lot of chat to catch up with!
Congrats to Mr & Mrs Wonky, and to Hazel and hubby. Hope you all have a great day!
Hope Amsterdam lives up to expectations, Hosta.
DD, hang on in there - others are right, those B&B customers could well be yours in future...
Sherbet fountains were my early favourites, plus licorice comfits (2oz for 1d). Later, chinese figs - anyone remember those? Crystallised, sugar covered fig sweets. I had strange tastes...
The rain has nearly stopped. I'm delighted that the shed, newly re-felted yesterday by OH and me, seems to be fully waterproof at last! The original felt had been fastened on with staples rather than clouts so it's not surprising it very quickly began to leak, I suppose.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Lilipilly - I don't have apples here but I will in the new garden so I'll end up making mint jelly for me as I like it too. Oh prefers mint sauce which I find too vinegary. I do have a horseradish plant in a pot so could take that with me and make my own sauce. Don't like it with beef but it's great with smoked salmon and mackerel and beetroot baked with butter beans.
I agree with Busy - DD should at least be paid for her work at the B&B. Roll on freedom and her own premises and business.
Amsterdam - great in sunny weather and the Rijksmuseum is fab but the Van Gogh is a rip off. Enjoy your hols Hostafan.
Our shed needs re-roofing too but not my problem any more. Do need to sort the contents though....
Curtains for Possum first - sewing that is..
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I love that it's nice and flat and compact so you can just stroll about and never get too lost.
We're right next to the botanical gardens, but it's not even as big as some London Squares , so at 8.5Euros, we're giving it a miss.
We did the Van Gogh museum a few years back and loved it. I'm such a tight one, but I don't remember thinking it was a rip off. Maybe we hit it lucky that day.
Bought some Eucomis bulbs today, bigger than my fist and 1 Euro each. Bargain.
Glad to hear you're having a nice time Hosta - I loved the Van Gogh museum too - some very vibrant paintings - mesmerising..... as was the Sex Museum - fascinating, voyeuristic, eye watering, tacky and funny in almost equal measure.
Will you be going for a Rijsttafel while you're there? - yummity yum yum

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Evening all. I see you've been chatting about allsorts....I like the little bobbly ones..
I've also instantly forgotten what everyone's been up to
Enjoy your hol Hostie. Don't get up to any mischief though
Happy aniversary to those that are having them. Any cake?
DD - words fail me with your situation. You're entitled to some of the proceeds from your business. Don't know how you go about getting your fair share though.
Very autumnal here. The rowans have been looking bonny for a few weeks - they all seem to be nicely red/orange now though. The constant rain yesterday has washed my gravel - which was handy
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Have a brilliant time Hosta - I was there for the Van Gogh centenary - loved the Rijksmuseum - are you going there?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove, etickets bought and printed off before we left Blighty. No queuing for us. Going tomorrow. Set aside the whole day.
It's been closed every time we've been here for the major revamp, so very much looking forward to it.

This is our 4th, or maybe 5th visit here.
