Hello all. Haven't read back yet.

We are back in Norfolk from weekend down south. Birthday party in Tonbridge was lovely, good family and friends event. Then stayed with friends in Brighton, I really know I am not a townie, would hate to live in a town flat, but it was fun looking round the lanes and the sea front. Then stayed with my sister near Uckfield, in the country. Dinner nearly ready, chicken ready meal bought in a Service Station Waitrose on the way back.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Evening all!

It has been a beautiful day here, sadly I've mostly been working in my office, but did manage a walk to my parents and back this evening.

Picked our first harvest of Victoria Plums over the weekend. My bridesmaid (named Victoria) gifted it to us when we got married 6 years ago, and this has been the first year we have had more than two plums, and certainly the first year they have been edible. I've really enjoyed them!

Currently watching the programme about New York on BBC2. Fascinating!

  • Glad to see someone can get decent plums, I tore out our plum tree in a fit of pique yesterday and now we have a second pear tree instead. Sick of bloody moth maggots!

My plums never make it to ripe. A day before they're perfect something else eats them. I'm starting to think they're just not people food!

Partner announced I've been slurring my words and getting more incorrect placements (I.e. saying spoon instead of vacuum cleaner) of late. I'll see tomorrow if the receptionist will let me even try to make an appointment with the GP. I hope you are all able to understand me!

  • Hope all is well Clarington.

Just googled Blush Noisette Steve ......lovely choiceimage

My Dads plum tree is plagued with plum moth (we've learned to slice them in two to check before eatingimage) but luckily we have escaped so far .....fingers crossed.

Smart meters can be read remotely - so doesn't matter if they are in or outside ......a remarkable bit of kit that's set to change the way we use energy beyond all recognitionimage. One of the bits of the jigsaw which might just help us avoid destroying our planet after allimage

  • We have smart meters, fitted last week. I declined the monitor as we use what we use and aren't too spendy with power tho Himself believes that light bulbs cost nowt to run...

New gas fire fitted in living room today, ironically at the same time as the aircon man came to sort out the install of a unit in our bedroom next week!

  • I forgot I coud post pics from my phone!

    Steve the Gardening Vet says:

    Hope all is well Clarington.

    See original post

Nothing a spot of WD40 in the right place can't sort I'm sure.

The meter is rather interesting to watch. All well in the summer but I can see us walking around with head torches and winter coats come winter.

Mind you the way our DIY efforts are going that might not be far from the truth.
