What's the point in no uniforms? image

Uniforms should be compulsory for all men at all times...and kilts!

You'd get very hot wearing a uniform and a kilt in summer image

    Thank you Lesley.

I'm ok once I get started and don't mind painting walls but hate tge sanding down of skirting boards and then painting them!  As you say looks great when finished......... but does show up the next room lol So we are starting upstairs in the bedrooms and working our way down! Having some new stuff so will enjoy all the 'faffing' afterwards.

Sorry to hear you've broken your ribs fairy......ouch very painful.......how did you do that? Gentle hugs xx

Oh Bushman if only I had known you had the iron out.  I've just finished ironing Hubby's summer shirts, he's only allowed to wear them on Holiday as I hate ironing and refuse to do themimage.

I've been through a bit of a midlife crisis.  Used to hate sport but quite enjoy it now.  I've always liked tennis but now enjoy football and rugby.  In the Olympics I loved the Hockey and gymnastics and found the swimming exciting.  Hate boxing with a passion though.

Have been out in the garden and have removed all flowers from the plants and cut back quite a lot.  Never done it before but hoping that the plants will all be coming back into flower when I return from Hols.  If not I'll blame Monty - he told me to do it.

I've moved all the pots from the beds and set up the automatic watering system.  Pots on terrace are already covered by drip feeders and we have a soaker hose that runs through the sunniest border so fingers crossed everything will be OK.

    Damn ...an opportunity missed...image

We had a chat, and because of a rude woman who I'd parked next to, I said to one of them he'd better watch in case she told him to park a bit closer - like she'd said to me. 'could you move your car over a bit - it gets very busy here you know' was what she actually said. He couldn't believe it. They had one of those vehicles with the sliding doors, and I said to him I was so close to moving my car to within three inches from it and leaving a note saying 'back at half four - enjoying clambering in through the boot'. We had a good laugh.

She's lucky I didn't stab her in the eye with a pole.

I did respond - told her the last time I was parked too near to anyone I couldn't get my doors open. She turned and went. I then met them all on the path - which she was blocking while preaching to a couple about their boots. Tempting to say to some of them that it would be so easy to trip her up and send her head first down the gorge and then they could  get some peace. image

I blame the weather for all this tetchiness. I think lots in store today were  a bit grumpy that Waitrose was all they could do due to the rubbish weather.

Glad to be home having a cuppa and a slice of carrot cake. ( tempted to a second slice)

Just sat down for a rest and a check-in.  Made a cushion cover for Possum's new sofa bed for her apartment this morning and that finished off the project with the acres of old rose velvet curtains - fluff and bits everywhere!    That and a desk and chair and the curtains now delivered and installed - 4 flights of stairs and dead lift so not funny - with a bit of help from Andy her flat mate.

Sewing plank (12mm x 240mm chipboard for cutting out) now removed form my kitchen table and floor hoovered and washed.  Looks like a kitchen again.    Discussions held over what we're taking, what we're leaving and what we're binning.    Asked OH if he wanted to keep the corner tables.  What corner tables?  Like the one on the living room in the angle between the two sofas.

He actually had to go and look!   Observant or what?

Really pleased the Olympics are done.   Really pleased that team GB has done well but, like Hosta, I don't see the interest in watching people or bicycles or cars just going round and round or up and down.   Can't be doing with all the hype and the emotional bits and the endless repetition.

Not watching Poldark.   Saw the first series and didn't make it to the end so wasn't about to start the re-make.    Very happy about GBBO returning and then it'll soon be time for Strictly.

FG - you were very restrained.   Punkdoc - I'd have thought having 2 or 3 cameras would be feasible if it gives you peace of mind, or at least recourse to justice with proof of bad behaviour.

I only iron when I'm sewing.  OH does ours - condition of watching endless hours of sport on TV...

Liri - sorry about the crossing.  Hope the return is better and that you have fun in between.

Cool and damp and grey here but set to warm up again next week.  I have chairs to paint for Possum and more furniture to move and sorting and clearing and packing........and potting up of a few more treasures to start my new garden off.  It's a bit of a blank canvas.

Bon appetit for all those who have Sunday dinner rather than Sunday lunch.   Slow roast belly pork for us - the only cut that comes with skin for crackling here.   Soon be time for my apéro!   Cheers.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Been on a wonderful walk and even enjoyed a picnic.

His lordship is however now very grumpy as his cold is kicking in and the neighbours children are alternating from one side to the other with their balls / trampolines / high pitch screaming / little dog barking. I'm hoping he'll just go to bed soon.

I've filled the green bin and emptied a compost bin. I need to now think of ideas on how to make this area wildlife friendly for the many frogs that are currently in residence in the scruffy area that will be soon turned into lawn.

    Any ideas?
