Lantana, not surprisingly, it's Eucalyptus. Don't know which species because they were felled about 20 years ago, so no bark or seed left for positive identity. Most of the remaining Eucs in that area are E. mannifera. (One of the Koala favourites).
Lantana, not stupid at all. We could have used any wood from anywhere, but that's all we've got on our place - growing naturally, not planted by anyone. We had them bulldozed years ago to clear a line before re-fencing our western boundary and they've been lying there ever since.
