Our big bit of grass takes about 40 to 50 mins so yours must be huge Hosta.   Well done.  I suspect our new grass needs sorting by a proper tractor or a herd of horses but the latter would eat the few proper plants.     There's a plum and a cherry and a walnut and a grape vine and some unidentified trees and a fruitless fig and the silk tree.   Along the roadside there's an interesting mixed hedge and in between the gravel level and the grass a few hibiscus and a fuchsia all looking wilty in last week's heat.

I shall watch the canals programme.  Thanks.  I only caught the last one of the series where they went to Llangollen and enjoyed it - except for the dippy moments.   So sad.

Lesley - OH sometimes complains I don't delegate but look what happens when I do!   Plain, simple English instructions so how does he do it?   Possum was very scathing and she doesn't even like plants!

Joyce - glad you enjoyed your exhibition.   Nothing else tempting?

Liri - have a great holiday.  Hope your TV is sorted.   Yours too Bushman.

Dove - Bitter sweet.   When OH's mum died his solicitor brother did all the papers but we got all the old photos he just stashed in the attic and her china - mixed lots of blue and white cups and saucers and tea plates but no full sets and we never use them so he's just agreed I can give them away.   He'll have to go through all those photos now as the new house has no attic.

S'pose it's time to think about dinner.   Freezer emptying.

Hey Lantana - if you were up here, you could watch the World Pipe Band championships on BBC2 just now instead!  image

What do you mean, you'd rather rip your liver out with a rusty hook? ....image

When I had my flat, I was downstairs from someone who competed....image  That must be the English part of me coming through...image

Pork and spiced rice and veg for my dinner. Quite nice. Trying to catch up with what everyone's been doing on here.Should really go out and do some more in the garden though. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Lantana - You're a lot more interested than I am or ever will be.

FG - have just watched a programme about some chap failing to cross the Cairngorms on a mountain bike whilst reporting on sport in the highlands.   Lovely views but a shame about the drip with the bike.

Olympics , sort of interested but couldn't watch the TV for hours & hours , like to watch news and look on iPad

Might have been different if it was winter but TV or garden , garden/allotment wins image

GWRS,  I must admit that the garden and h.......k are a bit neglected due to watching the Olympics BUT you tend to get gripped image

We watched Prue and Tim on the Venice Canals. Enjoyed it, thank you Hosta.

Harvested the onions today and the sweetcorn 2 days ago which is now in the freezer. We'd had a few fresh cobs first though.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Well the Spanish road race starts soon, so we will be doing either late nights or recording.im also one not interested in olympice. Hubby says they shouldn't emphasise the medal tally but should congratulate all the wonderful athletes for their prowess.

slow start today. Got woken by a phone call at 10.30 am.image all three of us were fast asleep. HRH had to be woken again. What a life!

I'm not saying my hound is vain... but he spends more time looking in the mirror than we do. The bed has been spurned today so he can spend his lay in giving the mirror toys and grumbles.

Busy day at work today; vehicles to shift, new person starting, and all the joys of a public building.

Headbutted something yesterday and split my lip. Ow!

Rain is on the way... my poor garden is really needing it. I've taken to soaking pots in the dogs paddling pool and the grass is threatening to give up entirely.

Good morning Clari image and the rest of you as you arrive image

Another beautiful morning of sunshine and birdsong here in Norfolk - but it does have a real hint of autumn - I've just wandered around the dewy garden in my jimjams and bare feet and left wet footprints on the terrace.

The two pattypan squash plants are making a bid for world domination - they are HUGE!!!  We have loads of squashes and OH is going to take some to the farm shop to sell, and I've plans to make some chutney ... we're eating squash every day - last night it was grated and turned into a salad with some chopped mint and parsley ... Did I mention that only one of the plants is producing at the moment ... the other is still at the 'male flowers only' stage ...........image
