  • PP, I have never heard that phrase before, but it's brilliant!

The fun continues here....husband just decided it was the perfect time to try to fix the roof felt on his shed, realised there wasn't actually a fat lot he could do to fix it in the dark at 10pm and so has come up with a creative temporary fix. Ten points to Gryffindor if you can work out what he has used to stop the felt from flying off the roof.

I think, just think, it's possible to overdose on Yorkshire pudding.

Dew Drops I'm convinced mens body clocks don't sync properly with mother nature.Good ideas rarely come at 09:00 hours.

  • Clari he has a special skill for causing chaos at 10pm and then falling asleep quite quickly after. Tonight is a great example. Shed roof at 10pm and now asleep at 10.25pm. I wish I could shut my drain off that quickly at night!

Obelixx said "Busy - lot of funerals lately!   Hope you're OK."  Thank you. Tomorrow will be the funeral of our 4th friend who has died this year. He was a special friend, the husband of my lovely friend who introduced me to OH and who introduced OH to the big choir he sings in. They came to my son's wedding. Hard to believe he's gone, such an intelligent and witty man. We used to go to the cinema together to see the live films of the New York Met's operas.

This evening we went to a choir rehearsal for tomorrow's funeral. My friend helped organise their concerts. Neither she or I sing but she found musicians for the orchestra and I made them tea, sandwiches and cakes. Dreading tomorrow.

SGLily, re the climbing rose, I guess it all depends on your soil and weather conditions. The one I've got now was transplanted from my Melbourne garden to here about 10 years ago, and is surviving but not rampant. Our conditions here are rather tough for most plants, poor soil, little rain, and very cold in winter and hot in summer. So, I'm not sure what to suggest about whether to put one on one side of the arch or one each side. I'd be tempted to get two.image Because I like the colour so much.

hello everyone. Lazing in bed at 10 am, but we watched TV until 2am, so I don't feel toooooo guilty.

glad to read DDs plans, sorry about poorly friends and even worse, a funeral. Hope all goes well.

Ps, I love your sunny corner Dove. The bench makes it special.

    Muddle-up; my mother's from Leicester!

Day off today and first job is the plumber coming round to move the gas pipe (runs UNDER the front door; how daft!)

Regretting not cutting the lawn yesterday. It's moisting quite steadily.

BUT as it's quite cool I might risk a trip to the local garden centre, just to look mark you.

Damp here today too Clari - so no more bench and shed painting for a while - I may have to just sit on the sofa and knit ................... or pop up to the GC with you ................. there must be something I need ...............

  • Good morning all. Its wet here in Brum but that's OK as I'm taking mom in-law out for a post birthday treat and it will be indoors.

It's been under new ownership for a few months Dove and it is always interesting to see how new blood and ideas can change a place even when you have no intention of buying anything.

Although that said I need to get round to ordering my birthday present that mother gave up finding for me. My birthday was in May!
