Personally I don't like edging to the borders it stops me from expanding them a few mm when my husband isn't looking.

In a world where you can be anything, always be kind.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Watched the episode you mention Steve. Bit too many different shapes for me which detracted from the planting etc. They seemed to like it though, and that's what matters. She wasn't happy about their overspend on the focal point though! image

How is your pond doing now? Could do with a few updated pix image

I'm sure Charlie wouldn't want arguing. She always seems so cheerful, good presenter.

Myosotis I don't like edging either, for the same reason as you and, unless it's set in the ground, you can't mow up to it.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I'm not a fan of permanent lawn edging either except grass meets gravel. I think it can make a garden look too much like a park.  I like my garden a little wild and woolly and the scope to increase borders is always a good thing. I prefer to edge the lawn and have a mini trench between grass and soil.

The nearest thing to edging around borders I have is a couple of areas surrounded by box hedging. Looks neat and tidy and gives structure - but I keep seeing plants I want to put in those borders but I can't because they're full...

Topbird, I'm now down to a lawnmower width of grass  between two areas of planting that kept getting widened so no further expansion in that area.image
