When we plan, plant and re design our own gardens, we know it will take months at least for them to grow and fill out

saw a recording of a prog last night....it was excellent image I will not be criticising this well-intended programme image

There is a saying "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions"image  I'm afraid this series, and the 'Instant Gardener', come across to me as the horticultural equivalent of "Changing Rooms".  They might look good at first viewing but what about after 6 or 12 months.

I think after 6 or 12 months the intention is that the owners have come to live with it and have a basic structure on which to elaborate.

The program is called Garden Rescue so it brings it back from the brink and it's up to the owners to run with it.

They do keep reiterating that they can only start the owners off on a "design idea" that they might not have thought of and then it's over to them.

I'm easy to please, I really like the programme. It doesn't matter that I don't like parts of their designs, it still triggers my own creative thoughts and ideas and I'm just happy to have another gardening programme to watch. Sometimes I've wondered where has the budget bre been spent but then I'm thrifty and like to feel I've got good value for my money. Or some might say I'm just tight, lol. And I love Charlie as the prresenter, a very natural, down to earth lady who has just aged like the rest of us. The lads seem easy going and enthusiastic gardeners too. I hope the programme will be long running anyway and that it will encourage new gardeners with its more realistic budgets.

     here here!

I'm off out to buy concrete tubes as large planters, liked that idea.

I have to say the " let's see if we can make everyone blub at the end" format doesn't appeal to me. Love your garden and the house building/ fixing  one. No thanks.

I'm an idiot, I watch, blub and next week repeat but then I like Alan, I think he is using the format to put back into the community and deserving subjects.  I hope I'm not wrong.

The quote facility has been having glitches lately.   Never seen the need to use it myself.

Get round that by addressing the poster concerned.   Saves quoting and is easier to read.

DHR: Ouch.... That is a glitchy quote, but I think I've got the gist of it image

Maybe a good idea for a new (just for fun) thread, old TV show mash up's? image

Hmmm... What do you think? Anyone up for a little nostalgia?

DHR - is it always a criticism or do you post other stuff too?

I am now on the 3rd of this series waiting for cake to cool enough for the  to go on - and enjoying it so far.   Some good ideas and nice to see "designers" using metal builders' mesh as trellis too.   I've been doing it for years.
